Any ideas on tires that you recommend? I mostly drive on the street with occasional off road, mostly trails or sand dunes. My last Rubicon JK was used and abused by me when I was younger. The only tires I put on it was 35" Mickey Thompson Baja MTZs. I really liked them but they were loud on the highway. They handled great in the rain, snow, mud, off and on road. Since I got the 392, I think I have washed it more then I ever did my JK in the twelve years I owned it. I have already found the rims I want and I am looking for a good set of 35X12.5R20 tires. Mud tires look awesome, but I am thinking all terrains probably make more sense. I have been looking at the Nitro Trail Grapplers and the Mikey Thompson Baja A/Ts. What do you think? Thank you for the help and suggestions in advance!

Have you seen the NEW Toyo RT/Trail tires? I personally think they are a better tire ( less noise ) than the Ridge grapplers, and still offer a great 45k warranty, or the TOYO AT III with a 50k tread wear warranty. They fall into the Hybrid tire where they still have the exterior look of almost a MT, but with the benefits of an all terrain tire for daily driving and still great offroad.

Thank you. A friend of mine was just talking about them. I will take a look.

I would recommend against Nitto Trail Grappler tires. Our Gladiator Mojave came with a set of 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers and a Mopar lift from the dealership when we bought it new. I guess this saved me from buying a set for my 392 in the 40" size, because I had been planning on buying that tire when I switched from 37s to 40s. But after the experience of using these Trail Grapplers on the Gladiator I wont be buying another set. They are LOUD on the highway, much louder than the 40" Toyo MT tires I bought instead, and much louder than the 37" Cooper STT Pro tires I had on the 392 before changing to the 40" Toyo tires. The Nitto Trail Grapplers are so loud, that at the 80 mph speed limit you cannot listen to the radio or even have a conversation with someone in the passenger seat without yelling back and forth. And the Nitto Trail Grapplers are wearing very fast. We have 18,000 miles on the Gladiator and the Nitto's are 3/4 worn out. If it was a dedicated trail rig where traction was really needed I would replace them now. For street use I bet they will need replaced by 25,000 miles.

If I were buying tires for the Gladiator now, which sees mostly street use with a trip to Moab 2 or 3 times a year I would look at the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs.

I won't use anything other than Nitto Trail Grapplers. They are perfect for the rugged Texas and Oklahoma sharp rocks and cactus.

I find them pretty quiet on the highway too but my Jeep rattles like a tank and the SOT is loud as crap.

With my doors off and the top open, it's way quieter.

I like my trail Grapplers as well they are great for traction I don’t think they’re too loud. Had a set on my 05 LJ for 12 years (didn’t drive it that much) now for the 392 I’m chunking them up like crazy I think maybe it’s the horse power / torque and sharp rocks hows everyone else doing with their tires. I really don’t care tire’s don’t last forever. I wish nitto would make the trail Grapplers in a 38 load range C .

I really liked the trail grapplers I had on my Gladiator (37.5/13.50 R17). They were surprisingly smooth on the highway especially compared to the other set of tires I had on it before (LandSpider MTs).

I also had a good experience with a set of Maxxis Razr MTs (35/12.50 R17) on an earlier JLUR I had.

I made 86k miles on my last set of 35" Ridge Grapplers, great and fairly quiet on the road and trails/light rocks in the Smokies. I switched it up with this new set to the Recon Grapplers and I love em more on the road. Haven't hit any decent trails with em yet, but 37s are lighter than most.

Given your application is mostly street an AT tire makes much more sense. In addition you may want to consider load rating and tire weight. We all have our favorites for various reasons. Between the two I'd choose the MT Baja A/T, but I'd also consider the MT Baja Legend EXP (both are load D w/ 50k mi.) given it's a little lighter. I'm big on reducing unsprung weight whenever possible. I've never had either one but they both review well.

I ran 38" Nittto RG's for ~23k/mi and personally found them to be exceptional both onroad and offroad in a variety of conditions. I very recently went to a 40" Nitto TG and am still evaluating, but have had a favorable experience thus far... still need to get some miles on them.

40's are the new 37". I really like the look of 40's , but plan to stay with 37 's.

Probably need to get tires in the next few months. I can't imagine using anything other than TGs.

I had looked into the tires last year. I really like the 2022 XR wheels so will keep them.

And I've been waiting the BFG KO3 patiently. I think they'll be very suitable for my 99% daily driving use cases.

Ditto on the BFG KO2's! I daily drive mine and run fire roads with light to medium rock trails with no traction issues. Quiet, wear like iron & handle well.

Second that, not going to give up my Trail Grapplers. I have had so many tires over the last 40 years of wheeling, lots of BFG AT's and MT's, Pro Comp, Patagonias. The Nitto trail grapplers are so quiet and nice on the highway, we drove over 3000 miles in October from California to Moab Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. Awesome tires.

I have MT Baja AT's 37x12.50x17 on my 392 with a Clayton 2.5" lift. They are great on the highway and good in snow but that's the only use I have got with them. I do like the tires but I wish I'd of went bigger, 38x13.50. That being said if you have even a thought of going to 37's just do it. Back to the AT's, I would recommend them just know they have a rounded edge look, I prefer the squared off tread to sidewall look like Toyo or MT Baja MT.
