Trying to hook up a radar/dashcam and the plug behind rear view has ignition hot. Any one know anything?

When you find out, I would like to know. I tried it on my 2021 4Xe and couldn't get it to work, just picked up a 2022 392 and getting ready to try it. Most are using one of the 4 AUX switches.

I’m considering a dash cam but haven’t done any research yet. Any recommendations?

I tied my radar detector into the power inside the mirror housing. Just used two small pins that were on the ends of my pre made cable.

I will try and take a pic and get the colors of the wires, once I finally get it back from the dealer. :(

Jeep 392, did you just remove a small plate above the mirror or did you have to remove the entire housing around the mirror? I noticed there is a small access panel that is slotted and I thought I could access the wires from that point.
I have an older Escort 8500 X50 with an Escort M1 dashcam. Mounted to my mirror with a BlendMount hanger that i had to add tape to both sides of the neck because BlendMount doesn’t have one for the 392 mirror That fits. It works but if I want to change the mount and use my dashcam, I have to invest in a newer Detector with a mount that supports the Dash Cam.

Curious as well - Escort has an easy tap kit that I'ved used on the 950xi and 360... love it because there is no splicing.

There is an ignition and a battery wire in the footwell on the passenger side. Tough to find but they are there.

Just the small access panel was all I needed.

the plug behind the mirror under the plastic cover? I was told that that location only has constant hot which makes no sense because the mirror is not contact hot is it?

Any pics yet? Or do you remember which wires you tied into the mirror? There are 4 wires in there.

Interesting. When I picked my 392 up just over a week ago there was an extra access panel for the housing around the rear view mirror. I have not figured out why.
