Thinking about a hoist to remove and replace the hard top easier. Amazon has some for roughly $200 but this seems like something that would be easy enough to make myself. I’m thinking a couple 2x4’s, a few eyelets, some rope and the cheapest electric winch I can buy makes this about as hands free as I can get and way cheaper than $200. Save me from myself please…. 😂

I made one for my LJ top which is huge. I used a harbor freight ATV winch.

I built my own last year for my JLU sport before I got the 392. I did what you’re proposing, got everything at Home Depot and a 400lb electric winch on Amazon. Cost about $350 for everything including the winch. Parts list and pics below.
-2x 2x6s
-About a dozen very large lag bolts to mount everything into the wall and ceiling
-2x 50’ 3/8” 310 lb nylon rope
-2x ratchet straps (to attach to the rope to lift the hard top)
-6x zinc rope clamp set (to make the eyelets)
-4x lag bolts with eye hole
-4x M25 single pulley
-4x 3/8inch wall pulleys
-4x stainless steel spring link
-1x 440 lb electric hoist
-1x 2’ x 1 5/8” unistrut to mount hoist to wall

i did one for my LJ which has a pretty long shell. very easy. back your jeep up where you want the shell to be.
put 4 good size eye bolts in studs. you might have to go up into the attic. then hang 4 good size ratchet straps
from all 4. the shell really does not weigh much. after its unbolted just lift the corner and slid the hook under the
ratchet it up a few inches. Actually i did it for my JK and my LJ and had no issues at all. and on the front you can
put 1 strap all the way across and it works great as well.
