2019 JLUR 392
Hey there 392 peeps.
I have a 2019 JLUR with an AMW 4x4 392 conversion.
I live up in the mountains in Colorado, and love it up here.
Looking forward to being part of this group!

Gene

Welcome and ditto on the pic entry for JOTM!

So, that photo was taken before I had the 392 swap done.

Feels like it would be cheating to submit it to the JOTM, knowing I hadn't done the conversion yet.

But don't worry -- I'll be submitting other photos into the JOTM!

Welcome Gene! Awesome introduction photo!

Welcome! Are there any major differences between the "stock" 392 and AMW's 392?

There are a handful. By doing it this way I keep the Rubicon 4:1 transfer case and get an upgraded transmission. The HP output with the AMW is 505 where the stock is 475 I believe. Last items are a few layout items, air intake, etc.

I had a bit invested into suspension, gears, skids, and such, and didn't want to start over, so I went this route.

I have visited their site a few times. They seem to do it correctly. I bet it's a hoot to drive.

This is a picture of what the engine bay looks like with the AMW4x4 392. The "crate motor" layout is a little different. For example, the coolant reservoir is in front of the battery, instead of up by the firewall. The PCM is over on the driver side. AMW4x4 now has an option to have the 392 and a cold air intake box -- I don't have that either.

But you get the idea. There are differences. And 35 more HP (470 to 505). Don't ask me who they do that -- I'm assuming there is an AMW4x4 Magic Wand from Hogwarts ...

Livernois achieves similar improvements with a different tune.

Does your 505 have MDS like the factory Wrangler 392?

Negative. They are NON MDS motors.

AMW 4X4 starts with a crate motor, a NON MDS motor, then make a number of modifications, then drop it in the Jeep.

There is a great podcast that you can listen to and hear the co-founder, Jared Petiprin, discuss how they're built out.
