So my wife wanted to install a grab handle on the passenger side to help her get in and out the 392. I found the Mopar Grab Handles (82215523AC) but they don't fit according to the site.

So I searched around and found this pair (82216098) which fits but the description says it fits JL equipped with power top... without mentioning if it fits the hard top...

I think the Mopar grab handles are nice quality, initially I was gonna go with GPCA Metal Grab Handle but a few commented they are not very good quality.

What really confuses me is another site says

Those grips for the power top tickle my fancy but I can’t picture where they actually mount. I bought some on Amazon that just Velcro on and they work fine with our hard top. The power top is another story though. There is zero clearance in some spots.

I found some generic paracord 2-strap ones on Amazon that fit the SoT just fine.

I tried the Rugged Ridge ones with the nice backing and 3 straps but it's too thick and too wide to fit. (This reminds me; I have to actually dispute the charge since they haven't given me an RMA and it's been 2 weeks and 3 e-mails. The worst part is that it's just the same stuff on Amazon just with a pretty box and a very high markup--and lousy customer service)

Having said all that, I do not recommend using them to get in/out of the Jeep. The velcro and plastic buckles on these don't look too good for load-bearing. I only bought them to hang my hand on them when sitting; the A-pillar handles work well for my partner and me.

Those look like the Rugged Ridge ones I tried (I do like those better and the colors they offer).

However:
***NOTE to JL & JLU Owners with AUTOMATIC POWERTOP ROOF: Because of the way the powertop oof connects to the roll bar, our universal grab handles are NOT compatible on that version.

After reading more, I think the Mopar version is hanging too low. I may still get the GPCA ones. I really wish there’s a bolt on metal design to give it clean and low profile look.

Thanks for the suggestion. Bartact seems to have better quality compared to the general paracord handles found on Amazon.

I actually think about getting the Bartact handles that are designed for JK and bolt them on. They should fit the JL.
I thought about that but couldn't find anything that seemed like it would fit. I'd like to see your result!

As someone who's not as much a fan of the nylon/paracord grips, I like the idea of a more solid grip like these in your link. Though, I wonder how thick those feel in the hand.

I'm hesitant on nylon grab handles, because I've seen them break twice. One memorable one was a friend of mine getting into the passenger side of my jeep, and putting all 200lbs of his weight through his right hand on the handle, trying to muscle his whole body into the seat (he was a very fit 200lbs), and the handle clean ripped off at one of the connection points. He literally fell out of the jeep on his ass, because he trusted the handle with all his weight. He is also kind of a dumbass and we had a good laugh, so not all bad :ROFLMAO:

I have no doubt that a non-cheapo grab handle *should* be impossible to break in this fashion, and I'll never buy a cheap grab handle again. I want to trust the hell out of a grab handle for ALL my weight if need be.

I would like some handles that have some rigidity to them, mostly for passengers to feel secure jumping into and out of the jeep too. If I found literal hard bolt-on handles, I would probably consider them.... except I really don't want to hit my head on one either, haha.

I put these Jeep brand handles in my wife's Jeep. Came out of my JK. Lol.
