For our Jeep club yesterday was a terrible experience
It took 18 to 20 minutes for anybody to show up same for an ambulance luckily it wasn’t needed .
We all carry first and kits .
We don’t have a defibrillator 99% of us are retired (old) does anyone carry a satellite phone or defibrillator?
If so what kind . Thanks

iPhone 14 and later have satellite features for emergency calls, roadside assistance, and messaging. I would assume that android has the same. The phone moves to satellite mode automatically when no other options are available. If the call fails then text 911 or SOS then tap Emergency Services. The product description does warn that it is not available everywhere. I don't carry a defibrillator.

+1 for iPhone and it's satellite connectivity. I also carry a Garmin in-reach mini for redundancy if my phone is unavailable or vice versa. No defib, standard med kit.

Starlink in our Jeep makes everything work most of the time. I carry a comprehensive FAK, water, blankets and a Zoll brand defibrillator that I picked up for a decent price from government auction.

I do worry that the defibrillator will not work when I need it to, due to it being bounced around and the other environments conditions in the back of the Jeep, but I figure there is at least SOME chance that it'll work, so I keep carrying it.

I carry a zoleo

As a heart surgeon who also did my gen surg training at a trauma center, I probably carry way more than I need. But I carry what I need to keep someone alive long enough for a helicopter to come... save an IV, breathing tube and ventilator. I carry an AED, oxygen, a choking aid kit and a trauma kit. My first aid kit is custom built based on what I think I would need to stop bleeding and any common medical issues. I also have Starlink hard wired, Garmin inreach as well. I probably carry way more water than anyone else - but dehydration makes everything worse. The demographic that makes up our group - most common issues will be cardiac and respiratory.

I have a newer iPhone, a few friends have starlink minis mounted in their Jeeps, and my friend Kerry carries a Zoleo. I’ve never even considered a defibrillator… but the Zoll thing is pretty cool.

The starlink mini makes calls pretty simple because it gives you also have internet access. My buddy broke his front axle, out in the middle of the San Rafael Swell and we would have had a much more difficult time getting him out without cell and internet.

You can wheel with us, anytime 😉

Bought a Garmin In Reach years ago for off-road and motorcycle adventures. It came in handy when a friend of mine failed to negotiate a curve on an out of state trip and his motorcycle went head on into a car. Hit the SOS feature on the In Reach as I didn't think there was cell reception in the area where we were and they immediately went into action and called my wife and 911. Life saver.

I could intubate, insert a chest tube or an art-line and various other life saving procedures but there's a chance that whoever I'm wheeling with, is getting on my nerves, so I may play like I don't see them....

Any iPhone 14 or newer - has satellite connectivity capability. If you've got one of those, it's worth a quick read to know how to connect via Satellite. Short version: you want clear line of sight to the sky.
