Hey all I have a 2023 Gladiator Mohave Manual Transmission (that is important). Am just starting the 392 swap. Found a complete 392, 8HP75 Trans and MP3022C tranfercase. It should be a fun process and even more fun when finished. Any help, advise or experience will be greatly appreciated. The manual transmission Gladiators and I think Wranglers too kept the "older" GPEC2A PCM. Which the 392 uses also.

Damn, I wish I was that handy… but I do live in Colorado and I’d be happy to cheer you on!

Are you anywhere near Arapahoe and e-470?

I am down by Frank Town. But could certainly use the support. I'd really like to get a close up view of a 392 in a Wrangler? Could we possible meet somewhere? Parker?

I would think about getting rid of the clutches in that transfer case. I fought mine for 11,000 miles and finally replaced it with an atlas. I had the clutches get hot and the front wheels quit pulling. I had the Service 4WD light come on with binding. I was afraid to leave town with it. Some people have taken the MP3022C and swapped out the parts from the MP1622C.

I've heard others with similar stories. It seems like the TC is a problem area. I've had no issues so far. But you sure can't go wrong with an Atlas. I built a V8 YJ with an Atlas 4-speed TC. All in, it had like 10:1 low range. How difficult a swap is it on a 392?

It took me about 3 days by myself. Most of the time spent was removing the skid plates and lowering the fuel tank to get enough space to remove the factory transfer case. It does require removing the center counsel. With the new kit you can keep what ever driveshafts you are using. It does require a Tazer along with a DTCM from the same year Rubicon without the full time transfer case.

Thanks, yeah I am kind on the fence with the "full time" 4x4. I might look into gutting my existing TC and putting in the 3022.

I think adding the 3022 with the clutches would be a pain. Your Gladiator would be missing the transfer case harness pigtail. It hooks up to the electric motor that operates the clutches on the transfer case.

Okay, all of you are fellow Coloradans! Hit me up when any of you want to go wheeling… @tcabece, I’d be happy to meet up. DM me and we can coordinate 🤙
I am open, maybe later in the week when it's a bit warmer. I am near Frank Town. I'd be willing to meet pretty much anywhere in CO!

I have been looking since it seems the MP3022 might be an issue. Since I have the Gladiator with the manual MP1622. It won't bolt up to the 8HP75. BUT the Borg Warner 44-47 does and the linkage and electrical switch location and function looks the same. (More research to do) Plus the BW44-47 are readily available and cost effective (cheap). Since I have to get an Adams drive shaft anyhow. I can get it with the slip yoke for the BW. Plus I favor a manual transfer case. Any thought/experience with the BW?

I have no experience with the BW, sorry.

Very nice. Hit me up when you’re ready to see what they did to fit it into the JLUR. We can meet at your place, my place, or in Parker 🍻

Prodriquez: Hey thanks for offering to let me take a look at yours. I've been busy collecting parts. Do you want to meet maybe Monday or Tuesday 2/3 or 2/4? Or maybe the following weekend? There are a lot of nice restaurants on Main Street. I certainly owe you a beer at least! Thanks - Tim

Tuesday works. I’ll send a PM with my contact information and we can work out a time and place. 😎
