So, before I get the "anybody who is willing to pay $80,000 for a jeep should not complain about gas prices statements" let me say when I ordered my 392 I was quite aware that prices of gas were going to be increasing over the life of the vehicle and am willing to pay for the joy of driving this toy. Having said that, with current gas prices rising so fast and with the international instability right now, I would not be shocked if we see north of $5 per gallon premium fuel in the very near future. That being the case, what are members thoughts on where the price of these toys will be heading? I would believe that those looking to sell for current premium $ should make their sales soon and those who are on the fence about buying likely will be able to get some deals pretty soon as the dealers asking for that $15,000 ADM on in-stock 392s will soon be having to discount to move these units and the "used" ones retailers are trying to sell at crazy markup will have to come down in price. I ordered mine planning on long term toy and joy so gas price has not changed my plans, but I'm sure there are many that these prices will impact to change demand significantly. Just asking for thoughts. Also prayers and hope for peace and safety of Ukraine!!

I believe in time, with the higher adoption of electric, oil demand drops some and the price follows accordingly. In time, these 392 models will be like a boat. You’ll run it on occasion, but it won’t really matter. I also have a deposit on a Cybertruck. Everything will eventually be electric. Just a matter of time, and we’ll see it in our lifetime. The ICE models will still be around, kind of like the steam engine cars that appear at various car shows.

On a side note, there is a company already making an electric power plant to drop into muscle cars. Produces about 1k horsepower, nearly 1400 ft.lbs. of torque and uses the current motor mounts. Batteries go where the fuel tank was, etc.

It’s intersting when you see “X barrels released“. The other day, 60,000,000 barrels. Wow… right? Its a joke when they tout that number. You know how long that lasts the US? About 3 days for fuel. This doesn’t include engine oil. Just fuel for transport in passenger vehicles only. For every barrel, 10 gallons is lost during production.

I certainly agree the future is headed to electric....we could get into the political push as to why and also the real environmental impact of electric being likely worse than fossil fuel vehicles but no reason to start that whole argument here....I'm mainly asking thoughts on the short term cost/price on our 392s rather than long term eco push to rid the world of ICE powered vehicles.

I have a feeling this will repeat what happened with the oil crisis of the 70's...cause car manufacturers to stop production of muscle vehicles and build underpowered ones, or go electric as seems to be the case. Our 392 will become what the 60's and early 70's muscle cars are today.

I don’t really care. I only feel bad for lower income people and how it affects them. High fuel prices will slow down the economy, which is needed at the moment.
I agree. I just filled up on premium @ $4.39/gal and I live in BFE Indiana!!

I had two outstanding team members (employee's) try to quit because the drive to work was costing them too much with the gas price increases. Luckily, we worked out a way around that for them, so they will stay with us.

Gas prices change over time and people get used to it. Americans don’t seem to care. Housing is up, food is up. There seems to be nothing to make people stop spending money right now. So no I don’t think gas prices will slow anything down Or lower the price of the 392. Opposite probably.

Where I live electric will never take over. It hasn’t been above freezing for 45 days. It hasn’t been above zero for a low in about 30 days.

This is the number 1 reason I bought the 392 now. I think 80k will be a normal amount for a “decent“ vehicle in a few years, but by then no V8. Auto makers make vehicles for the masses, I am not in that….

San Diego premium is over $5.50 in some areas already. Has been over $5 for some time now and even $6+ in the LA area. Yes, it sucks, but gas was already sky-high when I ordered mine.

It will just put a bigger smile on my face when I drive by a Prius showing them that their green mafia isn't going to stop us from having our fun.

In addition to the high gas price, my monthly natural gas/electric utility bills are also increased considerably. So not much we can do as consumers at this point. Personally I don't mind spending another couple thousands dollars a year on gas cost of my 392. Yes I definitely don't want to. To me they are just numbers, I don't have a deep pocket, and I have kids to support, house on mortgage, auto loans as well. I simply live my life the way I wanted. I'll have zero regret if the day comes that I'll have to downgrade my ride due to maintenance cost.

Buy stock in oil....use the gain proceeds to buy gas for the beast...

I have short commute so the gas price is not a big deal...I do feel for the middle class folks that have "regular" jobs and make an average wage. I know for them gas is a significant part of their budget. Having said that, most 392 owners are not going to be middle middle class income folks.
Not a cheap vehicle to own, but boy is it fun. Put the soft top on yesterday and went for a ride with it down and it is just so epic. Those WOT shift in offroad plus are totally off the chain......

I've certainly thought about it, but I drive a 5.7 Hemi Grand Cherokee and I barely get 10 mpg in the stop and go city as it is... I can squeak out 20mpg on a road trip with highway. My reality though is that I really don't drive that much nowadays. My office is 2 miles from my house. When it is warm, I can ride my bike or walk. I maybe drive 20 to 50 miles on a weekend.

Apparently 81 million people prefer high gas prices over mean tweets. Gas will come down if people vote the in politicians who support policies that increase supply at home thus reducing prices.

I recall you couldn't give SUVs away back when Obama was in office when gas got sky high. It got so bad I bought a motorcycle for my daily commute which worked out well.

I still think the 392 will be a keeper though as it is a unique vehicle but values may calm down on them to be more reasonable...

Glad you posted this. I was thinking the same. JP Morgan today saying Crude COULD go as high as $185 this year. Another poster mentioned back in 2008 SUV prices went way way down, I agree I sold mine and it wasn’t fun. I ordered a 392 in oct. supposedly it’s on its way to dealership now. I really, really want this 392 and spending 80k on a car is out of my comfort zone to begin with, yes I can afford it with a trade in, cash and loan no problem. But with all the shit going on right now this purchase is giving pause. It’s giving me anxiety really. Something is going to give sooner or later. I don’t know when or what. I really want this 392, I’m a jeep guy and think it’s badass! I don’t know, what I’m going to do. Honestly I wish I was stuck in D1 still so I had more time for maybe some positive economic news to come up.

They'll have to pry my 392 from my cold dead hands. Like someone earlier posted, these 392's will be like the '60's muscle cars in 1973. Back then, when the gas crisis hit, so many fine muscle cars were trashed or given away or sold. Hasty decisions were made. Now those old muscle cars are worth a mint in good condition. I do see gas cars going nearly extinct in the next couple decades, but there'll always be expensive gas available in this country and my 392 will be with me. Only way I'd get rid of it in the future, to make room in the garage, would be to donate it to a museum.

Demand from your representatives that they put pressure on the administration to reverse course on drilling and exploration policies. This can get bad quickly and threaten more than just the economy. I am perfectly happy selling my barrels of oil for $120+ but not at the cost it will have on everything else when it hits $200.

Gas priced under Obama never got as high as they did under Bush. They hit $4 average in June 2008. People conveniently forget that. The actually plummeted right after Obama won the election.

Putin being an idiot is really putting a lot of leaders in a bind. Hopefully the Saudis increase production to make up for the lack of oil coming from Russia now. Our gas prices are much more affected by what the Saudis/Russians do than anything our POTUS does. People like to give credit or blame for everything to POTUS but some stuff is out of their hands. Good relations with OPEC certainly helps though.

There won't be any good economic news until the leftists are out of office...period

Basically, our 392’s were obsolete before they even left the drawing board (or computer screen as it is today). We can’t complain too much, we knew what we were getting into.
