First heat issue

2021 Rubicon 392, 2021 RAM 1500 Limited
Had the hood up running a cable for lights, and happened to notice some discoloration on the fender. Thought it was just a shadow, but it’s on both sides. This is a pic of the driver’s side fender. My Jeep only has 2,000 miles.

It seems the heat is coming out of the sides of the hood and matches up perfectly with the fading.

Tough to see, I see some discoloration, I think. Not surprised at all. My Jk had hellfire under the hood. New emissions rules have everything running 205 all the time.
 
Mine is the same way. Doesn’t bother me though. If they repaint it, it will just happen again eventually. In think it’s just part of the quirky charm of owning this beast.
 
Hard to see on picture... it does look like shadow on picture.
On subject of temperature...supposedly the higher temperatures help with cylinder wall wear and running 180 degree t stat and lowering fan temps will help with detonation but at the expense of increased cylinder wall wear. I wonder how much lowering engine temp by 20 degrees would help with underhood heat?

I bet the biggest drop in under hood heat would come from wrapping the exhaust........I haven't looked, but bet is pretty tight to get to the exhaust manifolds or headers in this engine bay.

I don't think I would sweat it from looking at your pictures but I have put heat shields on chainsaw mufflers before to keep plastic from melting/discoloring so I don't know....................

I'm also not looking forward to my inner fenders melting and falling off when the weather gets hot. Was thinking about pulling them off and putting some stick on heat shield on the inside, but haven't messed with it yet.

I believe that if this is a wide-spread issue, the aftermarket will answer the call. That is a big fire breathing motor in a tiny space.

Noticed with only 300 miles while ceramic coating

You can always add hood louvers. I’m considering this mod as there’s not as many air molecules at altitude to pull heat off the motor efficiently.
 
I thought this (heat) would be an issue. My answer is to put in a manual override switch on the electric fan for better air circulation under the hood.
 
I don’t have my rig yet, but isn’t this a functional heat extraction vent on each side? Pic found online.

Is it just on the fender? I would think the hood is hotter than the fender and would show worse. It looks the same as the discolored white grille parts that were an issue. I have black so it could catch on fire and still be black.

Interestingly enough, most of the hood doesn't get that hot (but it has been chilly here). The hydroguide insulates the hood quite a bit.

Also, I bet the heat issues on inner fenders are on the driver side. Passenger side has more heat insulation and is stiffer due to insulation. I'm going to put some self adhesive aluminized fiberglass heat shield on the inside of the driver inner fender. Will have to take it off to do this, but it will stiffen it up and keep the plastic from deforming under heat I hope and I won't have to replace the inner fender.
 
Another guy with a white 392 and 18k miles said his did the same discoloration at 1k miles and then went away around 8k miles. So that’s good news.

You would think Jeep would have seen that in early testing. Is your 392 a '21 or '22?

I agree you would think Jeep would have seen that. Mine is not as bad as the OP yet but it is getting noticeable and confined to the plastic painted fender. Mine is a '21 with a bit over 1100 miles. Strange thing is I have checked the heat in that area after a drive and it doesnt seem to be anything other than warm.

Hey! Fellow SRQ person here! Well now I know there’s at least two 392’s in this county. Mine is white too.
 
This is not encouraging as mine is also white. Is this just a problem on the white ones? We will have to see how it plays out.

By the way, I finally saw another 392 in the wild in the city last night. First one for me and it happened to also be white.
 
So I can now confirm that I have this same issue. Mine appears to be worse on the passenger side, but maybe this was more noticeable on that side while I was drying. These types of things tend to annoy me and then I spend lots of time looking for fixes and/or trying to fix myself.

It's encouraging to hear that this somehow went away for someone at around 8k miles (I currently have just under 2k on mine now).
