Fender design issue

Where the fenders meet the body there is a tight gap that is below the fender. Small rocks and debris get stuck in there. Even a wash doesn’t get them out with a power wash. I have to use a small stuff piece of plastic to pry them out and they certainly scratch.

Mostly it’s on the rear fenders but is a problem on the front too. Is aftermarket the only fix?

They make foam inserts for those grooves that are supposed to keep the rocks out.
