2022 Jeep Rubicon 392 - Gobi
Hi. Sorry for being naive but are the foil-wrapped wires on the front passenger side supposed to be exposed like this on my new 2022? Also, the plastic liner they hand-cut doesn't even seem like it belongs on this - maybe they took one from another model and just trimmed it (edges are sharp enough to cut through the wires)? Doesn't seem right considering how much we paid for these. Thanks in advance.

Stupid question…
Did you cut that?

No, that's the way I got it last week. Only have 120 miles on it but never noticed it till I parked it today with wheel turned. Almost looks like they ran out of parts so just hacked up one from something else.

This is a close up of mine. I also saw on another site a walkaround video of the same year/color as mine showing the same setup with exposed wires as mine. I'm just worried of the long (or short) term effects of sand / rocks / ice bouncing off the wires. Here is a close up of mine:

That’s odd. I have wiring there, but not wrapped in foil. Maybe I am missing the foil? 😃

I remember reading somewhere people were getting melted wires from the engine heat. Mine was built in June so maybe this is a stop-gap measure to try and prevent it.

I agree that the splash liner does not look OEM. It hugs one side of the shock yet the other side has a huge gap.

My June 22 build has the same cut and foil wrapping.

Yours looks like it two pieces. Mine is all one piece. My passenger side was shredded on the front bottom corner. Dealership sent me a new one with plastic rivets and heat shield they are flimsy at best. How does the lower piece attach to the Jeep? Maybe you could lower it down just a little.. is the driver side also two pieces?

Despite how it looks they are one piece. When the first 392 came out plenty of people had issues with the fronts getting hot and then contacting the tire. This was before the XR even came out. I dont hear of it anymore so maybe they changed the design? Closer to the outside it slips under the plastic fender flare piece but those rivets dont have to come out, there are slots for them.
