I am picking up my 392 within the next week or so. From looking at undercarriage pics and videos, it looks like there is a large resonator just prior to the rear dual mode muffler.. I know its really early in the 392 release, but has anyone deleted/removed the resonator? Anyone considering it?

My C6 supercharged Vette has resonator and CAT deleted. On quiet mode, I can barely hear the exhaust.. but open its perfect.

I'm tempted to drive straight from the dealership to my muffler guy and have him fabricate a couple of flanged straight pipes to replace the stock resonator.

Resonator boxed in "RED" for reference

I have not heard any review from anyone that was not happy with the current exhaust system with the exception of a drone when left open. No one said it should be louder toned different etc. that I have seen or read.

I think Jeep spent time on that as it was a big part of the attraction and marketing of the Rubi 392. Maybe they got it right?

Yeah that's one of the drone issue's I was referring to.

I think this would probably get rid of the reported “drone” and add a couple HP. I’d be tempted to do this too.

That being said, I’m inclined to believe that the stock system was engineered specifically for the vehicle, and personally would not change anything at least for quite a while, unless there was a problem.

Would be very interested to hear your results if you decide to go this route. I have noticed the drone - especially if driving in manual mode. Would also be very interested if any of the "major" exhaust products decide to jump into the 392 arena. I truly love what Jeep has done with the exhaust!

Stock exhaust for reference. Getting the resonator off when I catch a break from work. Will post updates.

small revs. Baffles closed then open

Finally got the resonator chopped off, replace it with x2 3 inch pipes. Thanks to Steve at West Coast exhaust, in Fresno

The first video is the before resonator delete, completely stock. Second video is after the delete. You’ll notice that it sounds much deeper at high rpms, but cruising you can’t really tell a difference. Honestly this is the way it should sound. With the baffles closed it still sounds dead quiet inside the cabin.

I did this mod to my 392 yesterday after reading this post.

I LOVE IT!!!!

Very strongly recommend this mod if you want to open up your exhaust sound and hit that sweet V8 note. No regrets!

I know it has been done here in Vegas, I was told by Dan at 4WP. Don't know the outcome, but he may be able to help you. phone 702 871-1717

Amazing what that resonator delete did! Nice job and thanks for posting!

does this void the warranty? sounds amazing, thanks for sharing

I was hoping on running some Vibrants instead of straight pipes but doesn't look like they will fit. My hang up is on that 90° bend coming off the right side. I'm thinking this will be rough to modify. Also a Carven Xpipe would possibly work but looks like a lot of bends in the exhaust. Was it as bad as the pic?
