So many people here love the sound when you press that little exhaust button and the HEMI roars like the King of the Jungle that it is - but many appreciate the "off" mode to allow it to purr nicely and not intimidate the neighborhood.

So, I pose this question: What is your PRIMARY mode? Factoring out the "impress the friends" button action, or "floor it for grins" moments.... but for the vast MAJORITY of driiving, how do you like it? Loud? or "The Devil's Calling" Loud?

I can hit the mph limiter before I get to a neighbor house…. Or even see another vehicle. But with the 392, that might not be that far…. I guess I can say, no one can hear my jeep when it starts except me. Brings to mind, if a 392 starts in the forest when no one else is around Is it too loud?

Nope. You're just telling the wildlife that you're alpha!

The true cold start sound from this Jeep makes it worth every penny I spent…and continue to spend on it. I have 10000 miles on it I still smile every single time it starts cold. Performance exhaust is always on for me. When I take it to work, once or twice a month, after I crank it at 0500 and wake my kids up with it, I do temporarily turn the noise off until I get out of the neighborhood. Then it’s back on to wake up everybody else in Texas.

I have a neighbor on one side with a 2018 Raptor and a new corvette on the other side. I am almost always in performance exhaust mode. I did do a cold remote start at my GFs condo and thought maybe that was too loud.

Don't forget the poll at the top of the page! ;)

Great question Yukon!
My neighbor has a Tesla model 3 that makes this super annoying UFO spaceship noise every morning when he backs up for work. It sounds like this for those who haven't hear one before:

It's supposed to alert pedestrians, but I it is much louder than a regular gas engine car backing up. I think it must have been picked out personally by Elon to say: "hey look at me and my super space age Tesla, I'm part of the tech elites that are taking over the world, get outta my way".
I am SO looking forward to drowning out that stupid Tesla noise in the morning when I remote start my Hemi and say:
281.webp

Being in chicago, the houses are practically on top of each other. It would annoy my neighbors so i will try to keep it to a minimum. I cant wait to vroom vroom though in traffic. I like a nice rumble to let people know its special but there is a fine line to where a loud exhaust just makes you a douche. Im going to try not to cross it but still want to have a little fun.

Well, wait for him to discover the fart mode in his appliance.

I don't have any neighbors close enough to annoy and I like the sound so loud it is :)

Or you could be like this guy.... resonator delete, straight pipe. LOL

I go to stick time (ice hockey by yourself) at 4:30am twice a week. I turn the exhaust off when I leave the neighborhood, but back on when I hit the city streets. Any other time I leave it as-is. Does make me naughty or nice? I dunno!

My neighbors have a Prius, An electric lawn mower and an electric slow blower. I have this 392, a Wagoneer, A big gas snow blower And I'm pretty sure they hate me and quite frankly i don't care.
The point your neighbors are missing is that their power probably comes from a coal or oil fired steam turbine. Once you factor in the co2 from the power plant and losses in getting power to the vehicle, waste products associated with mining lithium and cobalt......are they really being friendly to the environment. I think a lot of the environmentalists are misguided and when they start talking about a methane tax on cows, I just think they've lost their mind.
All these rules and regulations make it harder for work to get done and impede progress. At the same time, don't get me wrong, I'm all for not destroying the planet. I just think some of these folks are focusing on the wrong things.

I love internal combustion engine powered things. The Jeep is awesome. Toolcat is cool. Chainsaws rock. I enjoy using the tools and getting the job done. Speaking of electricity though, Dewalt 60v tools are hands down superior to corded tools at this point. No sacrifice is made anymore to go cordless. I was shocked how big of an upgrade it was going to the 60v stuff from the 36v stuff (which I thought was good at the time).

Isn’t the poll worded wrong? I voted off because mine is off more then on, but the description next to off describes it being on???
