Can you order a set of half doors from the factory after delivery when it was not part of your original order? What about after market Painted to match?

Likely you can order the MOPAR half-doors from your dealer/vendor and they’d take your VIN to verify the paint code.

So when I ordered my 392 I asked. Short answer was no. The parts department said I could order the parts. Put it together. Have it painted. Suddenly the $4k dual door package seemed like a bargain. You can buy it used from someone on here but it’s 6 boxes and would be tricky to ship. So like the Sky One Touch Top it’s easier to buy it with the Jeep, it’s possible to add it later but it’s going to be a chore.

I recently read somewhere the 1/2 doors, in their finished state, are only available with your initial purchase/order. Or, find a “used” set from a private seller.

You can also buy the parts. By the time you get everything you need, you’ll be in fir about the same price, and you’ll still need to get paint.

I just priced it out myself.
The 1 regret I have with my order was I was not aware of this and passed on the 1/2 door package.
It’s my autopilot with not upgrading through the dealer because I’m interested in what else is out there.

I was looking at the parts on Quadratech. I feel like you could get everything separately and put it together. Pain in the butt, but it could also be looked at as a cool project.

Note that MANY of the numerous parts that you'll need to build doors, (including all the different hinges, steel body panels, interior panels, and modules etc), last time I checked, are out of stock with potentially long (weeks) lead times.

You will most likely not be able to order all the parts all at once, and it might be some time before some of them come back into stock.

...much to my sadness, since I didn't order the dual door group and *really* wish I had.

I was looking just out of curiosity. I ordered them with mine. Also have sets of full and half doors on my YJ and TJ. I’m a sucker for the half doors.

You are correct though. so many things on back order.

Thanks guys, I had no idea about dual doors (first time jeep owner here) but now I really want them! May have to sell mine and order a ‘23 to get everything as a package!

You can find used ones and get them repainted. I got a set off a gray willy's jeep. Had to add BSM mirrors, but it already had proximity entry, premium uppers and heated mirrors so all the wires were in place. Rekeying was no big deal. Ended up with good color match and looks like a factory job :). Ended up with about 6k in them after paint, mirrors, rekeying..........

Best bet is to order doors with the Jeep and then buy soft top later instead of ordering dual top group from factory.

Notice to anyone finding this thread in the future - you should be able to contact your dealer and add dual-door group to your existing order so long as it hasn't hit D1 status yet.

I was a couple weeks too late, but that's what my dealer told me (Granger IA).

Best to get 'em added to your order while they're hot!

What exactly is D1 status? I have a relative that placed an order a week ago and it's accepted, I have an order number, but no VIN... they want to add the doors but the dealer is saying they can't.

If you don't have a VIN, I would certainly think they could make changes. I got the color of mine changed over 2 months after I ordered it.....my dealer initially said they couldn't and I think that is partly true. THEY can't by themselves. They have to contact someone higher up and then it can be taken care of. A little bit of of pain in the butt for them, but if you're paying 80k for a jeep, I would not hesitate to talk to someone to make it happen. I got in touch with FCA customer service and kept pressing the issue until I got ahold of someone that could solve the problem. My dealer told me the Jeep was already built and waiting on parts to finish it. Truth was that is was still in D status and waiting on parts to start production.

If it is something you really want, pursue it. With a little perseverance, you can likely get something done. Adding doors doesn't' seem like that would be a big deal if it you don't even have a VIN yet, but I don't know. All you can do is try.

D1 is after D I think. I think parts have been found and has a firm schedule for production, but has not started production. Thus you can get the D1 to D regress if the parts don't make it or end up somewhere else.

Thanks guys got ahold of the dealer today, and they can’t order after the fact so said best to order as I want it to be delivered.

I bought/assembled new mopar half doors for my 2013 JKUR several years ago. It was a fun project. But it is definitely a project, not a purchase. There were multiple parts to buy for each door - the door, hinges, interior panel, wiring, mirrors lockset etc.

Painting adds to the cost - my shop did a great job paint matching but it may be a challenge. You will need a locksmith to match the cylinders to your key and then you assemble everything (not too difficult). The most difficult task was finding the correct part numbers for the wire harness's to match my year/model Jeep. Don't forget to buy the uppers if you plan to drive it in the rain.

I just ordered a 2023 392 and I checked the box for half doors from the factory!

Order a ‘23 and sell your current one! :) Alternatively, cut a drug deal with someone with a recent order (assuming they didn’t spec the half-doors) and have them order (obviously the same color as your ride…).
