Note that MANY of the numerous parts that you'll need to build doors, (including all the different hinges, steel body panels, interior panels, and modules etc), last time I checked, are out of stock with potentially long (weeks) lead times.I was looking at the parts on Quadratech. I feel like you could get everything separately and put it together. Pain in the butt, but it could also be looked at as a cool project.
What exactly is D1 status? I have a relative that placed an order a week ago and it's accepted, I have an order number, but no VIN... they want to add the doors but the dealer is saying they can't.Notice to anyone finding this thread in the future - you should be able to contact your dealer and add dual-door group to your existing order so long as it hasn't hit D1 status yet.
I was a couple weeks too late, but that's what my dealer told me (Granger IA).
Best to get 'em added to your order while they're hot!
If you don't have a VIN, I would certainly think they could make changes. I got the color of mine changed over 2 months after I ordered it.....my dealer initially said they couldn't and I think that is partly true. THEY can't by themselves. They have to contact someone higher up and then it can be taken care of. A little bit of of pain in the butt for them, but if you're paying 80k for a jeep, I would not hesitate to talk to someone to make it happen. I got in touch with FCA customer service and kept pressing the issue until I got ahold of someone that could solve the problem. My dealer told me the Jeep was already built and waiting on parts to finish it. Truth was that is was still in D status and waiting on parts to start production. What exactly is D1 status?
