Drag racing 392 video

This young man broke his 392 in the same way I did and has never had an engine or trans leak or other issues. Changed PCM and removed limiters and added a custom tune and runs the squeeze out of it most every time he moves it. Do you think he sends the oil of to study it for wear? I don't think so! Drive it like you stole it and it'll last forever. Baby it and spend your spare time in the shop driving a loaner or waiting on parts. He hasn't had any transfer case issues either.....................I saw a hundred on mine twice on the way home the day I picked it up. OTOH the Raptor Bronco has let him down and been in the shop several times.........................

Now That's Entertainment. Kid has such a great attitude too. Really enjoyed watching. Thank you, AUSTX!
One other thing I failed to mention. He's still running the stock 373 gears that came in the Wrangler. A 24 with 456 gears on the 38 inch tires would be faster. If you have an earlier model 392 with the 373 gears and want to jump on a 24 or newer.............. DO NOT TRY IT! Unless of course you regear.............

I feel like I was the only guinea pig on this forum until I met him lol. I’ve been in the hunt to try to break 11’s in the quarter mile with mine and I finally have a drag pack set of wheels coming. I’m hoping I can get a few good solid runs before the track gets shut down. I’ve had zero issues out of mine on and off the track. Multiple 120+ mph runs and it’s not let me down yet. Drive it like it was meant to be…

Love this guy also. I've got the same pcm/tcm tunes, but I'm running 488's w/35's. I mainly run my rig in the dunes. What a blast!! I've also changed my coolant thermo, lowered my fan on temp and put a flow through trans thermo in. Everything runs nice and cool hotrodding in the dunes.

I regeared my 21 to 4:56 before XR was advertised. Best mod for sure for me
What brand of gear set did you go with? I also have a '21

I say send it to Tom's 4x4 Superstore.... replace cam, pistons & rods (forged) so engine will handle boost. Long tube headers. Then add Magnuson supercharger with smaller than stock pulley and run 12psi to 16 psi, ... or whatever build will reliably hold. Custom tune.

You are absolutely correct. If you want to really get the most from the 392 and want it to live a long life while doing it.

I was going to do a demon swap but it is just way to much, best bang for buck is this.
Pull engine and do drop in rods and pistons, install the whipple or maggy blower, upgraded radiator and make 700hp on pump for much less. I found out that when they do the 707hp hellcat swap into the 392 they use the factory transfer case and transmission, just tune the trans. I am in the middle of building my final edition with lift and shocks now and when that is complete the built engine and blower is next.
