Hi Friends!

Thanks to this excellent forum that I found Chapman Jeep, and placed an order in January. I’m taking delivery tomorrow and was hoping to get your insights on what I should inspect. [Quick search but I didn’t find a related thread…].

Kind thanks!

Just open/close everything.
check all fuses for proper seating
Fluids (some have said their oil was low). My washer fluid was standard and it froze.
check door and roof seals.
check proper install of all plastic trim and panels.
adjust mirrors, engage 4mm, etc.

honestly, most people do this at home then make a list (if necessary) and have the dealer fix it all.

First and foremost have them check EVERY fuse with you. Loose/unseated fuse has been the #1 cause of post-delivery gremlins.

Also, do a good engine bay and underside inspection for any loose hose fittings, connections, or wiring clips. This would be #2 most common issue.

Congratulations! Hopefully, this has changed, but many of us received our 392's with loads of sand/mud on under carriage. Seemingly tested out prior to our order delivery. Also combined with this condition was a couple of hundred miles on the vehicle. Not that you would turn down delivery, but just something to be aware of. Would also assume this has been resolved as well, but take a look at the back plate on inside of tail gate. Should be a 392 specific plate. Many of us received a standard rubicon plate. Good luck!
Chris

Congrats! What model and options did you go with?
I ask because different accessories should come with it based on your options like Sky one touch top, or XR.
As everyone said the fuses are always a problem. Carefully seat each one properly.
Here are a few more things I posted when I picked mine up:

These updates were made to the 392 and should be standard for your 2022.
  • The Start up splash screen should say 392 on it when you start it.
  • The 2022 seats should have two rows of stitching on the butt area (this was updated for 2022)
  • It should come with the steel oil pan
  • The steering box is the new black Steel Steering box which drove great (see TSB 08-074-20) should be standard issue for all 2022.
These are problem areas:
  • Paint on the door hinges should look smooth with no bubbles, corrosion on the hinges has been an issue.
  • Look for color match issues especially on the cowling area that is plastic and painted separately.
  • I did a serious walk around before we drove off the dealer lot. Crawled underneath and inspected the frame welds (which have had issue with cracks) Fortunately they all looked good. The only things I found was a super tiny scratch and an extra bolt under the rear seat (hopefully that didn't secure the swash plate) Oh and the fuses.....
  • Fuses all needed to be seated (pushed in) as everyone was loose 🙄
Make sure it includes all the extra parts that go with your options:
  • Mine included the MOPAR - #82215711 wheel locks (already installed) at no additional cost (make sure you have the wheel lock key) and a full tank of 93 octane gas also at no additional cost (well except for the $84,452)
  • Jeep Windshield Module Protective Cover – Mopar (56029828AA)
  • Front License Plate Kit – Mopar (68295610AA)
  • Jeep rubber tow hitch cover – Mopar (68188901AA)
  • Quarter Window Storage bag – Mopar (68298539AB) (one touch top only)
  • AUX Wiring Splice Kit – Mopar (68416936AA – 001)
Don’t sweat it if you miss something, that’s what the warranty is for. But it’s worth doing a thorough walk around while your there. Remember the motor break-in procedure especially the first 100 miles.
It’s an amazing vehicle, your going to love it! 🙂👍

Wow, Friends! Thank you so much for taking the time to provide these great tips!

Thank you @Turboencabulator for the exhaustive parts list, too! Looks like I'll be taking some time to look it over! Here's the Window sticker. I got the hardtop as the top off with half-doors looks so good.

Again, thank you for this great forum. Arguably, the nicest and most helpful enthusiasts on any car/truck forum I've experienced.

Blessings!

Still on a high from the delivery experience. Love the Chapman team from start-to-finish. Ordered 18 Jan; took delivery on 18 April (almost exactly to the hour). The black 392 owner took delivery minutes before me and is heading back to Florida. The Jeep volume at Chapman was pretty astonishing. They confirmed discounts on orders, including TRX's; just not on existing inventory.

Thanks to the great and many suggestion for the PDI. Sure enough, none of the fuses were fully seated. The first 100 miles was sketchy keeping it below 55mph on the PA highways. At a stoplight, I was looking around for the annoying driver who was blasting his stereo with his windows up (you know... vibrating glass from the bass...) as it seemed he was following me from light-to-light. Turned out to be the 392's performance exhaust! lol

Ordered Rugged Ridge entry guards and Barricade Tubular Rock Sliders (step). This ranks up there in my small group of special vehicles.

Thanks!!!

So exciting! Dang that thing looks great. I bet you're amped!

I have mixed feelings because on the one hand, I'm super excited (since I ordered 1/21/22, maybe that means mine's close), and on the other hand I still haven't sold the jeep in my garage yet. I better get on that!

Get the 392 by whatever means possible! Even if you take a loss on your current Jeep, it’s likely the 392 will hold its value for a long time, if not appreciate. The sales team said these XR orders are the last ones and not likely to come back as an option for 392’s. Further, they speculated that 392’s may be discontinued after 2022.

Oh yeah, I’m completely excited about this thing. My neighbors….well not so much. The start-up is loud even in non-performance exhaust mode. :)

Do you have the VIN? You can check your window sticker. I’m sure your dealer would be responsive to get you status as well. I mentioned I ordered on 1/18…interesting the VIN tag cites production date as “2-22” so that was pretty quick progress from order date-to-production.

Hope you get the notice soonest!

Dealer has been great, got notification when I went into D status, and I'm watching CryptoStickers so I'll see when it's being built. Don't expect that it'll surprise me too much - I suspect it'll prolly be at least 4 weeks from sticker to dealer delivery anyway. But yeah, I agree on all your points! Really excited I got the XR when I did.

Super thrilled for us both (but especially for you!) Congrats on taking delivery :)

Brandon of Liquid Auto Detailing (Leesburg, VA - https://liquiddetailva.com/home/#ceramic) did a fantastic job with paint correction and ceramic coating (Opti-Coat). This is my first experience with ceramics and I’m very happy with the results. He even went above by installing the Barricade Tubular Rock Sliders for me!
