FWIW,

I dropped the $400 on the DCS hoodlights. Seemed like a great idea. Made in the USA. Pretty much zero clutter or aerodynamic drag added to my Jeep. Took only about 30 minutes to remove the hydroguide and get them installed.... wired right up to my available aux wires.

They are complete garbage... Just a LED COB with no reflector or focusing lens. Zero useable light output. I emailed them with a request to return them... no answer. I just had to file a chargeback ....

I was all set to buy their rocklights too, I guess now i'm not. Someone might have better luck with their other products, but the Hoodlights are a great idea implemented as poorly as possible. I thought I'd share to maybe save someone else the hassle.

Sucks to be excited about a cool and easy mod then have it not pan out the way you hope. Sucks more when the reason is crap quality or customer service.

I've always thought the hood lights would not be very practical, so I never purchased them.

However, I have owned 3 different sets of their rock lights and all I can saw is that they are really, really good and put out a lot of light.

One more thing with the rock lights, they have a lifetime warranty. Really, they do. All you have to do is call and say one doesn't work and something is wrong with it and they will send you another one.

There is a nice review from Diode Dynamics on YouTube about rock lights that is enjoyable to watch:

Lately, I've began to rethink the idea. I still think the idea is a great one, but the implementation was poorly done.

Lately I've seen some laser-phosphor diode units, that if they could be retrofitted into the NHD headlights, might be completely awesome.

I kind of wish I had a set to disassemble and tinker with.
