Is it possible to hard wire in the adapter for wireless carplay behind the dash? Having to have it plugged into the front media usb looks awful and just bounces around. Anyone have a solution? The center console usb does not work reliably to have it plugged in there.

If yours is anything like mine, it occasionally/rarely has an issue.
Easiest fix is quick unplug and replug back in.

I’d think twice before putting it behind the dash. Maybe hard wire into the glovebox, or hidden usb cable from the front usb to the center console?

Just my 2 cents

Yes it is possible, I looked into doing this myself. I can’t find the thread that described someone doing it right now, but it has been done. I ended up not doing wireless CarPlay because the Bluetooth sounds just as good as wireless dongle CarPlay and is much more stable. Most of these wireless Airplay exploit a weakness in airplay to attach as a “device” but are not native to Airplay and are not supported by Apple or Google so I found them more effort than they worth.
Also Bluetooth allows the map on the phone to stay in map mode vs direction list. Airplay Google Maps discussion

I have mine plugged in the center console and it sucks. Constantly goes in and out. I look forward to someone doing a write up on how to hardwire it.

I plug mine in but I hate having the cord, it's just messy and in the way. It works fine, just hate the cord. Pretty lame they didn't give us the updated uConnect with wireless.

Center console USB is known to not really work. If you move it to the front media USB, until a writeup appears on the hardwire, you should be much happier. 😃

I haven't ever looked into it on the MOPAR 8.4" deck or JL wiring, but I think they have 2 different USB leads on the back. You could try swapping that so the lead that currently goes to the dash goes to the console.

I did this with a Sony unit in a '16 JK, so it might be worth investigating.

I put Velcro under the media cover and stuck it there. Stays put just fine. It does have to be unplugged every once in a while so this keeps it easy to get to.

I used a extension cable so I could tuck the box. Works as consistently as a factory head unit with wireless car play.

WHAT??? My 2016 uconnect is wireless, it just doesn't have Apple car play.
Sounds disappointing to be ordering a high priced vehicle that has to use a gadget like my old TJ?
