I am happy with the stock performance as is, but some joker on here posted about the livernois tune making midrange a whole lot better and making shifts better. The midrange is really one of my favorite parts of the powerband. I don't want to lose my powertrain warranty and know that the p1400 code can spell trouble. I called Livernois and they stated that they do not cause a p1400, but you have to install a $45 bypass cable that hooks to the canbus to prevent this. Of course, the dealer can still tell that the computer has been tuned, but I'm hoping that by not triggering the p1400 code, the dealer could proceed with warranty work. My understanding is that if the p1400 is triggered then regional manager has to approve major powertrain warrranty work.

Any thoughts or first hand experience with this? And I know, I should probably just leave things alone, because I'm happy like it is, but the other poster said that they didn't realize how much better the tune was until they returned it to stock and now stock feels lazy..........just makes me wonder what I am missing.

Wow... now I'm some joker, eh?? LOL

I look at the increase from 470hp and torque to 500hp and torque is only 6.5% increase... surely they have that much "safety" margin in all the critical parts.

I've tuned many vehicles in the past... from a Mercedes S63 AMG (0-60 after the tune was 2.9 seconds) to a 2019 BMW M550 and now this Jeep. I've never had a single problem with any of them... just for whatever that's worth. LOL

And I mean joker in the nicest way possible. You know how it is. I was completely happy and had decided not to do a tune until I read your post.....and you made it sound so good that it makes me want it. Gonna wait a while. I figure if anything is gonna break from a defect it should do it early on. I have done tunes in the past as well with no problems. Just don't want to develop a hemi tick due to lack of camshaft lubrication and it get blamed on a tune.

Speaking of mercedes. An E63 wagon was on my list of vehicles I was considering as well. But is has no towing capacity, otherwise, a practical supercar. I saw the 2.9 sec 0-60 on the Renntech E63 website. Brutal.

I know it ditches 4 cyl. Can you share some details of changes from stock? Shift rpm, firmness. Part throttle and light load behavior. Responsiveness of paddle shifters. Any changes to off road plus? Changes in downshift behavior?

Thanks

Run a Pedal Commander first. You will be shocked at how alive it will make it feel. There’s no power increase at all, but man it sure feels like it!

With the Livernois, there is the engine tune and the transmission tune. You can do one or both. With the transmission tune, the shifts are quick and hard... from 1st to 2nd when it's floored it feels like the front wheels may come off the ground. The shift RPM's are slightly higher with the tune as well.

The engine tune completely changes how it drives, even just around town. The midrange is MUCH more responsive and easier to control. I haven't gone off road with it yet, but I would imagine it's way better there as well.

Realize there is only a 30hp and torque gain with the tune... so it doesn't become a rocket ship from this upgrade. However, the midrange where the real gains are. I honestly don't understand why Jeep didn't have this as the stock setup from the factory... they could have claimed a 500hp Wrangler.

Attached is the dyno results from Livernois. You can see the HUGE increase in the 2,000-4,000 RPM range. :)

Very cool. Thank you for the info. Does it make the paddles more responsive?
