I purchased the Clayton lift and plan on starting my install tonight. After scouring the interwebs I see a bunch of users having driveline vibrations who have the 392. Those of you that run this lift, do you have vibrations? I purchased the Adams 1350 front driveshaft to start. I didn't get the rear yet because the guy at Clayton said it wasn't really necessary at this point. What caster is everyone running? Any tips or tricks for this install? Are you running the recommended settings provided by Clayton?

Will be watching this thread, as same parts are waiting on me to install.

Had the same issue at first (same lift and also Adams 1350 driveshafts on 38” Nitto RGs). You need to drop the caster below 5 degrees for the vibrations to go away, at least until the suspension settles in. Once the suspension settled in after a year or so I was able to push the caster a little above 5 degrees, but not much. With the lower caster I have no vibrations at all and I don’t really notice a change in ride quality. I do also have yeti steering.

Good to know, I want to keep stock driveshafts. I will follow how everyone's install goes.

3.5” of lift absolutely requires a new (longer) front driveshaft. This is because increased flexibility of the suspension components will allow the front driveshaft to slip out of the slip-joint… and VERY BAD things can happen.

For the OP- if you’re installing the lift yourself, simply try to get it as close to factory as possible and have your alignment shop dial it in to spec. Better yet, find a 4x4 shop that also does alignments because they’ll do a better job and torque/paint mark all your components when they’re done.

Kit installed, running 37's. no issues with stock drive line parts.

I have this exact setup. 3.5" lift, 37's, and AEV geo correction brackets. I am running about 5.7 degrees of caster and do not have any noticeable driveline vibes. You definitely want to stay UNDER 6 degrees though. that's when most driveline vibes start on the 392.

But I do wheel, and I know the stock front driveshaft will eventually give up the ghost. No need to do it right away, but just plan on having to replace it eventually. My shop said rear drive shaft is not necessary at this lift height.

I was under the impression that correction brackets aren't needed on the newer JL's because of their longer control arms. Did you install those brackets when you installed the lift?

Yeah they’re not necessary but they do add some smoothness on the road. Interim step before long arms for me.

hmmm...my take is if you alter the suspension enough to change caster, they are always required to keep angles in check. Prevent death wobble, steering issues, vibrations, etc.

Adjustable Control arms -yes.

Driveshaft - no

Drop brackets are a JK thing and totally unnecessary (on an JL) unless you’re not using adjustable lower control arms.

@Socal_392 ’s use case makes perfect sense since he/she/they/them (not sure) will be moving to long arms. No point in spending the money if you’re just going to rip them off.

🍻 Cheers
