For any other curious individuals…
I’ve had my 392XR for about a month and am slowly getting my mods on. I travel for work in my Jeep. When I had my JK I HAD TO install a bug deflector. Driving through spring/summer time bugs had me going through wiper fluid EVERY round trip/weekly. The guard cut that in half and also prevent hood rock chips.

Now I’ve swapped that with the 392.
Obviously the 392s have a scoop and I was thinking a bug/rock guard might block air flow to it. I found no info anywhere about it…because I guess no one else was silly enough to waste money and try it.

But I did.

I got the Mopar bug/rock deflector, which screws on.

It definitely doesn’t block airflow because…the 392/Mojave hoods are taller than normal. It also helps you can adjust the angle with little bumpers it comes with, unlike the Rugged Ridge one that was on my JK.

Because of the hood height though I don’t think it will really deflect the bugs at all. However, it definitely will prevent rock chips to the hood edge, and I think it looks pretty nice too.

How are you liking it so far?
I'm thinking of installing it to protect against rock chips. ;)

Thanks for your post!

Recently I drove from PA to Great smoky mountains and back in over 1000 miles. Got lots of bugs/bees on the front grill surface and many stuck in the radiator, really bad. But not that much in the area where you installed the bug deflector. And none in the hood scoop or nearby.

I was initially thinking about getting grill mesh for future protection but also concerned about reducing the airflow.

What I did was using a 18 gauge wire and I picked all the dead bugs out from the radiator. The ones on the paint were easily washed away with a microfiber towel.

Just my personal experience so I’m not gonna install any deflector or grill insert.

I find it ascetically pleasing. It blocks ZERO bugs from my windshield, which I thought would happen. However there is a lot of construction in my area and it’s working great against the rocks/ road work debris!
