Can someone please explain the Beadlock capable wheels that come with the extreme recon package? Are they not technically beadlock from the factory? Do i have to buy the ring to make them beadlock.

They are not beadlock from the factory. Capable if you buy the rings and bolt kit.

Papa is absolutely correct 👍🏻 The ring that comes with the package is purely decorative and you will need to buy the beadlock kit of you want to make them true-beadlocks.

The way I understand it, the ring is functional, they just aren't installed as a beadlock from the factory. This is why you see that small gap between the ring and the rubber in most pictures. If you want it to be a functioning beadlock setup, then you remove the ring and re-mount the tire between the outer lip of the wheel and the ring. I saw a video somewhere showing this. I will see if I can find it again.

Not exactly correct. The factory ring is decorative and has 12 bolts. The optional bead lock ring has 24 bolts for proper torque and sealing. Do not try to bead lock the factory ring.

The 17X7.5 wheel on the base 392 looks like it has 12 but from what I can tell the 17x8 on the XR can become a fully functional ring. Maybe? Hopefully! If my XR would show up I'd know for sure!

The info on the XR has been sketchy. I just noticed in a pic that the XR wheels do have the 24 bolts. If the ring is suitable for bead locks you will be good to go.

Wouldn't be surprised if the XR photos used the beadlock rings instead of the included beauty rings for P.R. purposes.
