My previous EcoDiesel had a top-mounted oil filter and that made it relatively easy to drain/remove the filter without (much) dripping. The 392 looks a little more challenging. Has anyone developed a best practice they'd like to share? At first glance all I can envision is the creative use of a one gallon ZipLock and a quick set of hands. I use a Fumoto and 5/16" ID tubing to cleanly drain the crankcase into a 10-quart container that I use for transport to the reclaimation center (O'Reillys in my case).

Use the oil udder…. Cuts down on the mess quite a bit. Spin the filter slightly loose, udder magnets to the filter and lets it drain with the attached tube into a pan. Once it’s done just take it off in the udder and fish it out into a trash bag.

I purchased an oblong funnel that has a closure twist knob at the bottom from O’ Reilly (perfect size to catch an oversized filter).

I then tape “Puppy training pads” (Sam’s club) over the suspension just in case. Very clean, no mess and nothing left dripping from suspension.

Wow. I know that the puppy pads are precautionary, but you're able to execute a mess-free execution with the method? The various cross members are like an obstacle course. That's what I like about the Fumoto/tubing/catch container - absolutely mess-free draining from the crankcase.

Yep! Zero mess. I use a Fumoto on the oil pan and drop the filter into the funnel. Remove funnel and any drips fall right onto the pad(s). New filter, remove pads, fill crank case!
