anyone using off road + for everyday driving?

June 2022 392 XR build. Stingray Grey (incase it's a color thing?) Lol
No MDS in Offroad +
I rarely use offroad + for reasons as stated by others. I use manual mode almost all the time, even cruising across this awesome country at highway speeds.

2023 20A 392 (May Build) Sting Gray - NO MDS in Offroad+
Spent quite a bit of time in this mode today (On the Road) and the MDS 4 Cylinder Mode would not engage regardless of “anything” that I tried / Even tried many of the suggestions in this trail where others claim their “BEAST” drops into the MDS Mode - No Clue why mine won’t engage however I am happy it doesn’t in this mode - Very Interesting ✌️
Meant to add….It’s seems to behave very similar to the Sport Mode in my 2022 JGC WL74 2 Row 5.7L Summit Reserve which also will not engage the MDS in the Sport Mode however the 392 is more aggressive for sure!

Seems that they changed OffRoad+ feature in later 2022 year models and newer, where when engaging OffRoad+ it does lock out MDS. I know that's how it works on my 2023 XR.
Same with my ’24

Perhaps 4:56 = no MDS in OR+ ?

Granted, mine is not a daily driver - but I always drive it in manual mode. Don't use the paddles but use the shifter like a straight shift. Next best thing without a true manual. This really allows the exhaust to gurgle and pop. The only time the exhaust button goes to quiet mode is on a road trip when I actually make it into a gear higher than 5. Have never seen the 4 cyl mode. LOL.
Chris
I will add a bit more context to my post. I have 21 non xr (got in line on ordering early), also does not go into 4 cyl mode anytime while using manual - even if shifting to 8. Also, have not experienced 4 cyl mode if putting back into automatic after manually shifting.
Chris

Noticed I stayed in 2H (Tazer) with OR+ engaged.

I use it pretty much everywhere except on the freeway. Never while off-road or in traffic...too herky-jerky in 1st.

My 2024XR doesn’t go into MDS with offroad+

21XR. No mds in or+. I use it around town for the decel exhaust pops. Sounds cool. Also I use it for 0-60 runs. Seems to help but not totally sure.

New to the forums but let me tell you what an H-pipe exhaust swap and the OffRoad+ mode can do to that Jeep. Engage the paddle shifters, and that 392 will be screaming and breaking necks looking for the Charger/ Challenger making all that HEMI noise. :ROFLMAO:

I've found the proper shift point when messing around with the paddle shifters is around 5,500 RPM, the transmission will prevent you from shifting at too high of an RPM, as well as downshifting to too high of an RPM. The exhaust "bark" when shifting around 5500 RMP is so satisfying.

The MRT H-pipe I have installed for $300 is a full 3' diameter that really opens up the exhaust and makes it far more aggressive without any rasp. It sounds comparable if not better (In my opinion) to my friends 392's with $3,000+ brand name exhausts. I can post pics/ videos for reference. 🍻

As strange as it might be at this point I think there must have been a computer change around 22/23.

Now we have to determine if the actual programing of or+ was affected or just not allowing MDS. I like or+ but rarely use it because of the very aggressive downshifts. That would be useful off-road but as much as love to get on the 392 when I see a red light ahead that I am familiar with and know I will end up stopping there I get off the gas and coast in. Cant really do that in or+ because of the downshifts.
:ROFLMAO: I forgot about this thread and chuckled when I saw it resurrected . It was a hot topic back then and folks newer to the 392 are going through the same experiences we did a little while back.

I have not tried the same experiment I did with my '22 (post #39) on my '24. Have to do that for grins. Would have been cool to try the same route, same day, same parameters with both...however, my '22 is but a fond memory of my first time owning one of these beasts.
