We all get a free 3 or 6 or 12 months of the Uconnect feature. One of the options is the LOCATE feature. If you dont have it activated then you cant find the Jeep.

If you have it activated, a thief cant cut the wire and throw it out the window unless he wants to throw the entire dash out also.

Kill switches are great, tasers to make the hood alar go off are another idea.

The best in addition to the built in Locate is a battery operated product that I have used for years. It operates on AA lithium batteries that can last up to ten years and locate every 5 minutes. The unit is the size of a credit card and cost 100-150 depending on which one you get. If you are interested let me know and I will lead you to the product.

I use it on all my vehicles and clients boats, thieves can not find it, its too small and takes too long to find. When they get to where they are going and think they are safe and got away with it, we come rolling up with the police 15 mins later.

Thieves look for the trackers that are wired to the vehicles battery, those are obvious.

The Uconnect and the hood alarm should do the trick. Uconnect is free and the taser is $300 and does a lot of other great things.

A drug lord in South America with a 500hp Hemi Jeep with his goons hanging off the back hangin on to the roll bar with their machine gun is a Ferrari to him. When I used to take my Hemi converted Jeeps cross country to Cali, I used to have 2 tracking devices. A Mexican drug lord would love to have that as his daily driver, and to come to the US and steal one is no big deal.

What product do you use??

I think he might be referring to this one from Lone Star:

Very interesting information. I will agree the Tazer has a ton of awesome features that it unlocks for the JL platform.

Why didn't you just share the product info in your post?

Glad you guys carry this! I was going to grab one straight from Z Automotive, but of course, would rather support a great sponsor like you've been! Do you also have the SGW Extension Cable?

Well thank you :) and we do but it's currently not in-stock yet.

Honestly it's far more likely to wind up in a shipping container destined for the Middle East within an hour of being stolen rather than ending up as a drug lord's technical. GPS doesn't work in a faraday cage.

Having said that, I'll still get one of these devices :)

I use the Gabby, its smaller. Make sure you use the right batteries and choose the 5 minute option. An hour is too long

Has anyone tried AirTags, and what do you think about them?

Has anyone tried AirTags, and what do you think about them?
Airtags and Samsung Smart Tags require someone with a phone from the same vendor to be near it (iPhone for Airtags, Samsung for Smart Tags) in order to report location. For Airtags, the claimed range is 10 meters (but could be more outdoors). So basically, if you have an AirTag hidden somewhere in your Jeep, someone with an iPhone pass within 10 meters or less from your Jeep in order for you to see the AirTag's location in your iPhone. For example, I have a Samsung Smart Tag in one of my cars sitting in a remote car storage facility and it hasn't updated it's location in 2 weeks.

Another issue is that both Apple and Samsung have released apps that allows anyone to easily see all Air Tags in range. This was done after malicious actors started using Airtags to track their potential victims. In fact, starting from iOS 14.5, an iPhone will display an alert if there is an unknown Airtag nearby for some time. Plus the Airtag will beep once in 24 hours when it's away from you. Samsung's Smart Tags are significantly better in that regard because someone would have to actually launch an app on their Samsung phone and scan for tags. Read this: https://www.wired.com/story/how-to-find-airtags/
With all of that being said, Airtags/SmartTags are a no-brainer considering how cheap they are to buy and maintain (no monthly fees). If you have an Apple or a Samsung smartphone, get them now, just don't rely on them as your only anti-theft device.

On the other hand, both the Oyster 3 and Yabby Edge trackers that some here used rely on GPS for location (which does not work indoors). With a ping time of 5 minutes, a car traveling at 30mph and then pulling into a concrete or metal structure will give you a search area of up to 6.25 SQUARE MILES. Good luck with that. In addition, those trackers are pretty expensive and have high monthly fees. Yabby has an MSRP of $129.95 + $149.95 annual subscription for 5-min update frequency. If you go with month to month service, it becomes $179.4 per year.

I went with the EVTS tracking system from Mopar. I had it installed while the 35s and Rock Slide steps were installed before I picked it up Saturday. I like the geo fence it creates around the Jeep when it's parked and
everything is hidden in the dash with a battery back up. We have it on the 2 dr. Rubicon and really like it.
After 3 months of waiting, my 392 is finally home. Wow, this Jeep is a blast to drive!
Now it's time to add all the little accessories and add ons that are piled up on my garage floor.
Oh yea the bronze front hooks are going to be red. I'm removing that rear hook for sure. LOL
I have a few decals coming from Pixel Decals to install too.
