Sooo...I was waiting for a Hydro XR like a whole lot of other folks, then I found this rig for sale locally up the road from me. After two months of back and forth and a lil' bargaining, I struck a great deal on a turn-key AEV build brand new. I posted a couple pics elsewhere in another members question thread, but I figured I would post some here for S & G's. I've been told that this is the only red 392 JL370, but I've no proof of that. Simply what I was told.
Worst part....my best friend can't drive stick, so he couldn't drive my other car home last Saturday, thus he got to drive the 392 all day on the way home from the dealership while I stared in the rearview driving down PCH. :cautious:

You may be the only one right now, but I’ll have a FC red JL-370 alongside you in a few months. Mine will have Saltas though. Beautiful rig!

Nice!! Looking forward to seeing a similar rig!! What part of the country are you in?

Las Vegas. AEV says there aren’t any cooling issues…we’re gonna test that out!

My 392 was just built and Is awaiting shipping. I’ll head out to KY to pick her up. Plan to break it in on the drive up to AEV in MI to drop it off.

The last decision is whether to go with the deep bronze Saltas with matching dash or stick with onyx Saltas and matching dash.

Can’t wait!

Congrats!!

Thats a very personal decision on the color matching. I like the onyx, but appreciate the bronze on others rides. The Saltas will look so good!!

I'll be in Vegas in mine in just over two weeks visiting!! If you wanna check it out in person, we could arrange that.

Congrats to you too! Best color for a JL370 out there hands down.

I’ll shoot you a PM soon…

You didn’t want to have Jeep ship it directly to AEV?

Nah. I wanted to be able to see what it’s like before the 37s and 4.56. It’s only a couple hundred miles from the dealership up to AEV. Nice little day trip.

Have fun. If you haven’t been to AEV, ask them to take you on a tour of the facility, it’s an impressive place. But don’t ask them to take you to their original building, a few miles away, and now used for parts sales/distribution…that gets expensive quickly. :)

Hi there

I have a AEVJL370 as well and am also considering the Next Venture full skids with UHMW. Have you installed them yet? Any issues? How do you like them?

Thanks

Is that a wrap on the rear tailgate / light area? I love that look!
AEV does that on their builds. Honestly, I forgot it was there until you pointed it out. It is a sticker/adheisve.

I have them and installed them. A couple pieces of tidbits.

All of the steel brackets come unpainted. You have to paint them yourself or send out for powder coating. (I had mine black Zinc plated) This was kind of a bummer as the skids sat in the boxes for a couple of weeks until we were ready to install them, then find out they're bare steel. That took another week to get plated.

I didn't like how low the front of the engine skid hung down, and it was a little crooked anyhow. We ended up cutting and modifying their brackets to move the skid higher. That of course trashed the zinc plate so they ended up getting the rattle can.

There were 2 bolts that went into the bottom of the factory cross member that collided with the bolts for the tranny mount. NVM said they've seen that on a few rigs, other rigs don't hit as the bolts pass each other. We ended up cutting the length of the bolts down.

On the muffler skid, on the drivers side, there's a bracket that gets sandwiched between the sway bar mount and frame. This bracket was hitting the exhaust cut out valve. We trimmed the bracket, dabbed some black paint on the cut and mounted it.

If I recall, everything else was fine and it's actually a nice system. Haven't taken it off road yet as work gets in the way and it's 100* out right now anyhow. NVM really needs to re-write their instructions though. One of my employees did most of the work while I bounced in and out to help and make those decisions to modify, but all in all it took the 2 of us 2 days and that's in a shop with the Jeep on a 2 post lift. YMMV and all that.

Did you end up having them color match the wheels? I've seen a few they've done and they came out super gold, not the deep bronze like stock. They look good, just a little too loud for me. Curious what you did?

I went with Onyx Saltas with matching dash. I love how it turned out. I think bronze would have looked nice too, but I liked the Onyx better after seeing it in person.

That looks great! I have a granite crystal XR so not sure I want to do Onyx on that bc they are so close. And I don't really love black wheels. So thinking about using their wheel color option., just not sure if I want to bronze or go silver like the old school pintlers on the TJ and JK.
