I'm within a week of placing my order on a 392 JL. Really excited they finally built it, now I must have it. I have a couple questions for those that own them.

1. If you have the Xtreme Recon which shocks did it come with? I've read that there is no suspension difference between it and the normal 392. But I've seen a few pics of non-Fox shocks.
2. If you were ordering again would you change anything? We will drive our daily, and do a couple Jeep Jamborees as well as some back country stuff with it like we did our 2 door JL rubicon. So I'm leaning towards XR, trail cam, and dual top.

TIA

I would have definitely ordered the recon, the 33" tires are just to small and the dual door option.
I ordered tow package (worth it), front camera (worth it), tailgate reinforcement (worth it) , mat's (worth it) , Falken MT tire's and don't really like them to loud on the road, MT's are fair/good offroad, head liner, headliner is ok, not sure it's worth it. I had a 06 2 door Rubicon with dual tops and only used the soft top twice.

I would order the half doors, otherwise totally satisfied!

Maybe it's just me, but I don't get the Recon package for $4,000. I had my dealer put 35" tires on my "regular" 392 and re-program the computer... cost me $1,200 (for all 5 tires).

Front cam, headliner, tow package, mats, Gorilla glass. Love it.

I would not get the mats. You can get them through the dealer or aftermarket for the same price. When you order the mats they dont give you the carpet mats. You can store the carpet for later or date nights fancy like.

I looked at the options for mine vs what it would cost for me to add them after the fact. As for doors, I usually take my doors off and just put mirrors on so I didn't see a need for a the dual door package. I do have a trailer so I did get the tow package. I went with the XR because I liked the 4.65 gears and the costs of the tires/carrier/regear/labor would have been comparable. I decided not to get the trail cam. I have wheeled my 2012 on 35's several times and couldn't justify it based on the price. Also, I decided that I would probably get an aftermarket soft top due to price and I do like the looks of some of the aftermarket tops vs the factory soft top. Just my $0.02

If you are looking for a great deal, reach out to Lindsey at Dan Cummings in Paris, Kentucky. I was able to add a couple of options that I wasn’t going to, because I got such a great deal. I ordered my 22 392 and she has been wonderful. I have a VIN with a wonderful price! Make sure you tell her that I sent you!!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I've been curious about the 1/2 doors, still not sure I'll pony up for that cost. I appreciate the dealer feedback as well.

Did anyone have an XR to confirm which shocks were on it by chance?

If you ever want half doors, get those while ordering so they have the proper locks etc. The dual top can be added anytime.
I went with the half doors on mine. Totally a personal preference but a Jeep is like Legos I like the idea of changing it up. Also, I figure if I ever want to get rid of the half doors you can sell for at least 75% of the new price so it’s not a big loss (if any) and they keep hiking up the half door price. I’m planning on taking off my Sky One-touch top during the summer and rolling with half doors and the twill soft top. Here are some of the options this opens up:

I also went with the trail cam. You can add one aftermarket but it looks like a PITA from the installation videos I watched. And it adds it as a second ‘backup’ camera rather than a front camera so I figure let the factory do the software integration.

Yes the trail cam is a must, just like the tailgate reinforcement. We will have it offroad and both seem like easy justification.

What does it take to get the one touch top off? It does not appear that Jeep intended it to be taken off and even though the side windows come out the rear does not so I did not get it.

Just a couple of things,
1. Early in production, gorilla glass delayed delivery by quite a while. (Months)
2. The more options you ask for, the longer the wait may be.
3. Front trail camera is kind of useless if you have a bull bar for deer protection.
4. The fox shocks are a vast improvement in ride quality.
This 392 is the finest jeep I've ever owned.

You are correct sir, Jeep defiantly did not intend on owners removing the one touch top.
There is a very good video on youtube by Brandon Haneline showing all the details for removing the sky one touch top:
And reinstalling it:

When I ordered my 392 I chose the sky one touch top and half doors because I knew I could always order the MOPAR twill soft top kit and install it myself. My plan is to just switch from sky one touch to soft top in the spring then switch back in the fall. I'm planning on building a jig to support the sky one touch top then using an electric hoist I have installed in my garage to lift it off and store it for the summer.
What I need to find out is if the front header seal is different on the sky one touch vs a regular hard-top jeep. Once I get my hands on both my 392 and the soft top I plan on doing a basic diy video showing my top removal/install experience. 'Til then it's all just conjecture on my part.

@Turboencabulator sorry for the necrobump, but did you ever end up doing this? I got the sky one touch and half doors with the same reasoning as you. I plan to use the sky top on those warm days in spring and fall, but switch it out during the hot summer months along with switching to the half doors.

Hey @Dral97 so the short answer is YES!... yes I did... kinda.

I bought a used Mopar Windshield trim panel with the cutouts for the Mopar Convertible Latch brackets (Diver Side: Mopar# 68290477AA; Passenger Side : Mopar# 68290476AA) molded in. I had to cutout the hole for the SOT (sky one touch) switch and install it. Then I installed the two latch brackets, then the non-SOT windshield trim panel. I tested everything out and it works perfectly. There are a couple kinks I need to iron out, the SOT switch doesn't sit flush because the non-SOT windshield trim is molded a tiny bit differently than the SOT windshield trim. So I am going to fix that. So once I get it all dialed in, I will post a detailed How-To post for anyone wanting to go from the Sky One Touch to the soft top. It's also a bit to cold still so I am waiting a few more weeks till it warms up. I also bought the soft top new directly from my dealer and they let me use the Mopar app 10% coupon which saved me a few hundred bucks.

To better illustrate my progress here is a pic showing the non-SOT windshield trim installed with the latch brackets on my 392 with the Sky One Touch option. With the sun visors stowed you couldn't tell the difference. Also I posted a photo of the SOT-switch not sitting flush, I will fix that... somehow. Hope that helps :) (y) more progress to come...
