2021 JL 392 (Cloak, 6 pack, 38 Nitto) 2014 JK Polar Edition (2.5 AEV, Cloak Bumper) 2019 Raptor
Hi Everyone, new member here but have been lurking for some time. I ordered my 2021 392 back in May and received it in September. Couple hundred miles and went to work on Metalcloak 3.5 GC lift, Six pack (rides amazing) and Nitto 38s. regear to 4.88s Tazer mini. and rock sliders/steps (hard time deciding on the motorized gen 3 vs. these but super happy) This is my 1st JL as we waited patiently for hydro blue to come back out since we loved our JK (AEV 2.5/295/70/18)so much in that color. I need to put the half doors on still and get a pic that way too.

Welcome to the forum HydroX2.....

I'm new to the forum too, and cracked up when I saw a Jeep Doppleganger out there! My 2014 Polar has the AEV 2.5 as well, running 325/60/18. I'll be picking up my new Hydro 392 in a couple weeks once I get home from deployment, and my dealer has of course sent me teaser photos of it waiting on the showroom floor.

I too have been eyeballing the MC 3.5" lift for the 392, but want to call and talk with AEV once I'm back to see when they expect to release sales of their lift for the 392. I've been super happy with the AEV 2.5, installed it right away in 2014. I've been very impressed with how it handles on and off road.

If I may ask, did you consider AEV for the 392? If so, what led to decide on the MC, if something other than availability?

Hello There! So crazy that we both have "twins" I see a couple of nice Hydro JKs running around here and still think it was/is the best color (at least until that chief blue came out - too bad it's not on the 392!). I had been looking at MC stuff forever and a guy I know here who runs a shop had just put the MC on his 392 sarge green (without the six pak tho), he let me drive it and I was sold! I would say that it isn't quite as "soft" as the AEV over bumps and I used to run 325s also before they wore out and I went smaller on the stock rims

With that said, I have a 19 raptor also and neither can rollover bumps as fast as it can... If you want more of the sports car feel then the MC with the Six pak is the way to go I think. It isn't harsh but the steering is more precise. I would highly recommend the gear change once you do it - my wife was not happy with the loss in power after the lift/38s and the gearing made it quicker than stock. Happy Wife... well you know. Love CDA I actually ordered mine from Dave Smith and had it sent down here!! Congrats on your purchase!!!

How does the MC gold look/match up with all the gold/bronze on the 392? I’ve been eyeballing their lift also but I’m super OCD about color match and having too many shades of the same color. It already has several shades of gold/bronze from the factory.

So the MC gold looks pretty good underneath. Does it "clash" with the bronze - don't think so. I will say the only negative I get with the 392 is over the "Bronze" hooks and decal - "hey man you gotta change that" or "why did you get bronze it looks weird with the steel"... I am sure it looks better for you guys with Black but it really doesn't go with the HydroBlue and might be the only thing I dont like on this rig. I changed the wheels to run 38s and get rid of that part of the bronze which also just wasn't great. Ofc course that part is so subjective I am sure some people like that look so this is just what I keep getting for feedback.

Many thanks for the helpful and informative information! Pretty much all of what you said addresses some of my thoughts on this decision, and will be a huge contribution to my final decision.

Cheers.......

Where in AZ are you, and if you don't mind where is the shop you had do the lift. My Sarge Green has just moved to AZ (North Phoenix) and I've been looking at the GC 3.5.

Can I get you to clarify to whom your question was posed? The text from the thread you responded/inquired about didn't come through. Thanks, Shortcut.

Got it! Not directed to me. Thanks Buddy!

twins love it! i ran into a few guys with one just like my blue 392 a while back. went over and said hello as i was excited and not seen many here in these parts. they were a bit on the snooty side and didnt care and complained about the mileage. i was a bit shocked and offered to shake their hands, etc. to be extra friendly in case maybe it was just a bad day for them... oh well we do what we can to make each day the best possible.
