Wondering if anyone plans to keep their 392 running "forever"? When i bought my 2015 JK, I said "I'm going to keep this thing going forever"...it's 2024 and I still have it and it's still going strong. Of course I've had to do my share of maintenance, but that's why I like the Wrangler platform (most of the work can be done under my carport). Anyway, when I bought the 392 recently, I bought it thinking "I'm going to keep this thing running forever" anyone else have that mentality? I see a lot of people talking about trading theirs in for the mewer model before the warranty is up or what vehicle they'll get next when they are done with their 392. I never intend to be done and I'm wondering if I'm a psycho or if this is a rational mentality to have?

I bought my 20a with the intention of keeping it until I die. My problem is that 2 of my 3 kids have already asked if they could have it when I go.....

I kept our 05 LJR for 12 years never a problem 1
If l had garage space I would have kept it. I don’t know what Jeep will do in the next 12-15 years I don’t see how they can beat the 392 . So for now we are keeping it

Yea garage space is already an issue at the house with 3 vehicles. Lucky I don't have more money or I'd prob have several more 392s lol. I agree with you, I can't see them topping the 392. They had already announced the final edition, but brought it back, I'm thinking they are phasing it out regardless as everything moves towards electric/hybrids/turbos. I just love my 392 so much I never want it to end (10 days or so of ownership). I'm willing to replace pretty much every component as time goes on just to keep her running for a long long time!

I like the intention of keeping things until death, shows real commitment! Sounds like the kids might have to cut it in half when you go : )

I have 3 forever vehicles:
2008 Jeep Liberty with a lifetime powertrain factory warranty. 360,xxx miles now.
2003 TJ Rubicon Tomb Raider Ed #1095
2021 Rubicon 392 - my kids, like @guruman's, have also asked for it when I die. I'm getting buried with it in my my graveyard.

Forever is too far. My inner voice is “Love me little, love me long”.

If in the future years there will be cars/rigs I really wanted and can afford, let go of the JL 392 is a natural decision.

Plan to keep mine a long time. It is always hard to predict the future though. I suspect at least 10 - 15 years. Jeep or some other manufacturer would have to come out with something pretty epic to make me want to give up my 392.

Worst case, I may give it to my son at some point.

I plan on keeping my 392 until Jeep makes something better, which will be forever with current trends. A turbo or twin turbo six-cylinder won't be better. An EV or hybrid won't be better. I don't have anything to worry about, Jeep is headed the wrong direction. I've already got the best Jeep ever made.

I have three of them so once they start acting up or having any maintenance issues or problems then I'll probably give up all three at the same time but until then I like them a lot and I'm trying to keep them for as long as I can and my kids really like them a lot as well

Yeah, they just seem to accumulate around here, my old 1998 TJ with 4.0 straight six, isn't going anywhere. It's something just how basic 'Jeep' it is now. But it's fun just to drive around.
The 21' Mojave Gladiator is the best riding truck I have owned. I fits good in the family.
The 392 wrangler is much nicer since I turned off that crazy 'artificial' sound out the sub. The 392 don't need any artificial sound 'help'. That was just annoying.
I don't mind older vehicles, Love my 05 Cummins Dodge Ram, pre-emissions. It's not going anywhere, can't live without the rattle.
I sure don't plan on any battery car purchases.

They really are heading in the wrong direction, the best thing they did recently was keep the 392 around for at least one more year (even though they shafted others with the "final edition")

Man, I was borderline on the Mojave Gladiator becaus I dont "need" a truck but I've been reading so many good things about the Mojave...you may have just added a vehicle to my fleet haha.

I hate to ask before doing my own research, but what artifical sound are you talking about? I just turned off my front collision braking yesterday, I'm ready to turn off more unnecessary features

Side note: sounds like you hae some awesome vehicles. I'd love an old TJ!

You're living my dream. I want a couple more. One for my fiance, and one that always has the top and doors off haha. Only having one, I have a mentality of preserve it at all costs and hang onto it as long as possible

Once I got my BMW built up the way I wanted it, I said I would keep it forever and sold it a few weeks later.

Once I got my AMG built up the way I wanted it, I said I would keep it forever and sold it a few months later.

Once I got my TRX built up the way I wanted it, I said I would keep it forever and sold it a few months later.

Now I have my Wrangler 392 close to where I want it so I am getting nervous...lol... Nah, that's the thing with Jeeps, there are so many mods that you will never run out of things to do with them.

I took my wife's Jeep into the dealer for a free oil change yesterday and they had a 24 Harvest Sunrise TRX and a 24 Granite Crystal 392 on the floor. I liked them both but I liked my 392 more.
