I know thisn has been discussed. Bought a 392 yesterday and noticed the mentioned squeal upon cold start. It lasted 30 secs and dissipates. Multiple dealers says no issue and is a normal 6.4 characteristic. Any other feedback to share on this? I would imagine every 392 is doing this?

Yes several threads on this one as it appears its a 6.4 thing in general.. Mine has done it since day one and appears to be an exhaust noise that is “normal” and no cause for concern from what I gather.

Mine has not yet made any noises on start up. Is it possible it is temp related? Its been quit warm here in SoCal.

I'm also in SoCal and mine does the 30 second squeal. It seems some do it some don't. It may have to do with how well sealed all the exhaust junctions are.

Ok thanks for the replies. I spoke with an experienced technician at Jeep and he says it's a 6.4 known "quality." I saw some posts indicating some were pursuing further but never saw how it was resolved. Leads me to believe they reached a dead end.

Yes and the hemi tick tick tick

Learn it, live it, love it!!

My GC SRT did this.
my Rubi 392, oddly enough, does not.

Discussion on the “TICK” can be found on page 24 of the 392 Supplement Manual under Engine Oil.

This is the ONE thing so far (~350 miles in) that I don't like about my 392 Rubicon, but at least it's normal. I've owned other unique vehicles that all have their quirks. Eventually, you just get use to it as it's part of what makes it unique.
