I had 35 x 12.50 17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers installed at Discount Tire a couple of days ago and the tire will not clear the rear bumper (everything is stock except for the tires). I'm pretty sure I have seen more than one post here saying not only that 35's will fit but the same specific tires will fit with stock rims etc. Not sure why there would be that much variation between Jeeps of the same model. I was already thinking I would get the Tereflex adjustable tire carrier but I was also hoping I could save the $315 on that accessory.

Those are listed ay 34.76". The BFG KO2 315/70/17 are listed at 34.4" and mine just touches the bumper. I think the biggest variation is in the selected tire.

Post a pic of your rig with the Ridge Grapplers if you would.

I may go with them on the 392 as well.

Like many I think I went back and forth between 35's and 37's. Very happy with the 35 inch Ridge Grapplers.

I ordered the Tereflex tire carrier from Northridge 4x4 yesterday and it was shipped same day! I will update when I get it installed.

Just to clarify, you’re talking about fitting 35” Ridge Grapplers on a non-XR tire carrier aren’t you?

Yes, the XR comes with the Mopar tire relocation bracket that is almost as much as the Tereflex unit and I live the Tereflex approach much much better. I have the Mopar tailgate re-inforcement option.

I have the factory Mopar bracket on my XR. I plan to stick with 35’s, but I do plan to upgrade to Ridge Grapplers.

Is the TeraFlex bracket just built stouter than the factory Mopar unit?

Just to be sure...the 12.50's fit on the 17x7.5 wheel with no problem? I apologize if this has been asked before. Just picked up my 392 and am thinking along the same lines.
Yes they will fit, but most manufacturers don’t spec that narrow of rim size. That might cause your tire shop to refuse to install them.

I like how Tereflex relocates the third brake light and the distance from the tailgate is infinitely adjustable rather than in set increments so it can be set as close to the tailgate as possible to be tight to the rubber bumpers.

So, the Nitto site actually says you need an 8.5 inch wheel for the 35 x 12.50 Ridge Grappler but discount tire says 7.5 so they went with it.

In general, when choosing wheel width within manufactures specs the narrow wheels tend to do better at keeping the tire on the wheel when aired down.

Wow! Northridge 4x4 comes through! I ordered the Tereflex tire bracket Monday and I have it wednesday morning. I should get it installed today.

My Teraflex hinge reinforcement should be installed today also. FYI Viking, some people had issues with the camera not fitting correctly in the relocation mount. Mine came with correct adaptor but if yours doesn’t just call Teraflex and they will ship you what you need pretty quick.

I called Tereflex about the camera issues that I have heard of. They said the rear cameras on the Jeeps with front cameras are different and mine did arrive today with the adapter so it should work with either camera.

I am almost positive that the variation lies in wheel offset, which pushes the tire out further from the carrier. For example, on my 2 door JL I had a pretty aggressive offset and they cleared the bumper, plus the distance from the isolator was around 2". Whereas, I just installed KO2's today on the stock wheels and I needed a spacer to clear the bumper. The distance from the isolator is only about 1/4" as well.

The Ridge Grapplers are by far the best tire I have run on any rig. They wear even and always balance out! I got 35K on a set of 37"s and they were a little less than 50%. I to a 40"

Got the Teraflex tire carrier installed recently. I was able to use the middle height setting even though I thought I might have to go all the way up. Very Very close to the bumper in the middle but no marks on the bumper or even on a piece of tape I put there to check.

The wider tire does show up some in the rear view camera but not a problem as far as I am concerned.

I wanted to have the tire as low as possible to preserve rear view mirror coverage.

Can anyone with either the Ridge Grapplers or the Trail Grapplers comment on if and how much louder they are compared to the stock BFG KOs ?? I want to go to 37" tires on the stock wheels. I have the Mud Grapplers on my 2004 Rubicon but they would be way to loud for the new ride - 2023 JLUR 392 XR. TIA
