Very interesting and quite surprising, yesterday I went home to pick up my daughter. The engine was still running, I just hopped out the jeep and closed the driver door. Immediately 3 mini honks, man was I surprised. Never had this experience with any other cars in the past. Then it happened again either I shut off the rear passenger door after my daughter on board or I opened the driver door, I can't remember. But it was still loud in the neighborhood.

I did a quick lookup online and seems some of the JLs have this same issue while some others don't. Have any of you experienced the same?

It’s a safety feature for stupid people. Apparently some have parked their cars in the garage and did not realize it was still running. There were deaths so now we have to hear honks when we hop out with it running. If you leave the fob in the car no honks.

Okay, I'll keep that in mind. I wish there's an option to disable this feature.

It was talked about in one of the FB groups. Apparently no way to disable it. My wife’s suburban does the same thing. Super annoying. Not big on leaving the FOB in there cause you never know when some lunatic may try and jump in and take off.

I'm glad this happened at my house rather than during kids pickup at school. The Jeep honk is pretty loud that's why I disabled the honk at door lock and remote start since I had the my Grand Cherokee. My other sedans had very low-volume beep which is far less annoying.

They can still jump in without the fob and take off.

I know this because I jumped out of the Jeep and went inside and my son drove the 392 to drop off a friend. I heard it driving away then realized I had the FOB in my pocket. He said it beeped a couple of times and had a warning on the dash but kept running.

How to disabled the honk at door lock and remote start ?
thx

Maybe don’t leave the vehicle when it’s running with the key inside?

So I'm guessing your son didn't shut off your jeep without the FOB? (This is my first vehicle that doesn't use an old-fashioned key, so I don't know much about it). Sometimes tech can be a little too much, IMO.

That is correct, he did not shut it off until he was back home. If he had shut it off it would not have started again without the FOB but kept going until then.

Neither of key fobbed Jeep vehicles has honked when I left the vehicle running and take the fob with me. I do it daily when I get out to check my mailbox down the street.

Mine does it. Not sure if it was a firmware update or a result of the tazer.

My 392 has the Tazer but the TrackHawk does not. I am interested to learn what those that are experiencing the horn honks find out.
