42” on 20”??? Isn’t that illegal in most states?

Why do you say Evo is mid quality?Evo is mid quality parts and very poor customer service. King shocks are great, so there’s that.
Their joints are not as great as rock Krawler and metal cloak and probably others , unless things have changed. Their arms are less beefy than others including the aforementioned two. Their coils are very soft and sag immediately. Their king shock and coil pairings for the 2.5 short arm lift I had was very poor - the shocks sat at almost full compression and bottomed out regularly. Finally, (and take fwiw) my off-road shop was very meh about the quality of some parts. Guys answering the phone can provide very little help at least circa 2019 /2020.Why do you say Evo is mid quality?
I laugh when I read crap like this on the internet because it looks like your shop didn’t know how to set up a coilover or check the nitrogen in a shock… so blame Evo or King because their too stupid to know their stupid... I’d rate Clayton, Rock Krawler and Metalcloak above evo.
Take my opinion with a grain of salt, im not the worlds expert. Fwiw, I actually really like the owner of evo and his family and crew. It’s Just that for your average lift, they seem a little lacking.
Lots of wrong assumptions there. Enjoy your jeep, evo and Johnny Joints. As for Evo’s joints, I believe they use your standard Johnny joints, which I’d take over any of the others out there.
Looking good!
Be careful of that mounting position for the antenna (on the tire carrier). That is for a flag mount, at least that was what I was told. I had my CB antenna mounted there and ran into some weird issues and yes the AWR was way off. Relocated and reception was much better.
Thanks.... that one is GMRS, and other than I had to source a mount with an extra long stud to get through that hole, I've not had any issues with it. I didn't like some of the other mounting options (cowl, bumper or roof mounts) so I wanted to keep it here out of the way. I swap in a stubby antenna when I'm not on an Offroad excursion, so it's really low-key and out of the way, and still performs better than an handheld GMRS setup.Be careful of that mounting position for the antenna (on the tire carrier). Of course could be different for other bands.
Which mount and antenna did you go with? I've been wracking my fingers looking for one that fit there.Thanks.... that one is GMRS, and other than I had to source a mount with an extra long stud to get through that hole, I've not had any issues with it. If you are going to destroy the pedigree of a top shelf Jeep why are you using a product that for a lack of better words is no name. If you don't care about re-sale value, which to me you are improving the Jeep but do not use Evo.1. EVO KING double throwdown 4.5 lift
2. KMC grenade 20s on 42s NITTO
3. PSC big bore steering box / steering dampener
4. UB 60 axles. 8 lug
Can anyone give any pros and cons on Anything they have done at this level. Let me know how it rides and handles on / Offroad. Any other suggestions or good add ons to do at the same time. If anyone has bad things to say about any of these upgrades let me know. Got a lot I am investing. Now is the time to make changes.
LISTEN TO THIS GUY, AEV 3.5 and a 40 will probably work. I have a Gladiator diesel with fender chop, Mopar lift and 39.5 BF KM3-s and I am not a huge BF fan but the KM3 is nice. I disposed of the Nitro 40's when I bought it, Nittos are not allowed on my vehicles but you get free unlimited lifetime koolaid even if you don't own the product. they are hoping you get addicted to the ingredient they use like chic filet, he is hands down the most successfulmpoisoner in the World. I don't do the free thing as you get what you pay for in life.I am a big fan of staying as low as possible and running 38-40s.
My Jeep is a basic, moderate build and it just plain works well.
3.5" lift, fender chop, high clearance fender liners and 40s.
Listen to this guy also, two guys in one thread, three with me.I've been there, and I've seen a dozen guys online go through this same thing.
Bottom line: Mods at this level make the Jeep nearly a dedicated trail rig, IMHO. No matter what marketing wank a company used, that much lift, and that much tire will affect the road manners negatively.
The 392 rolls out of the factory with a good balance of off-roadability and road manners. There are some things you can do to improve either, but not much you can do to improve both. After a bit, making one better, makes the other worse.
I guess what I'm saying is if you want it to use mainly on the road, then maybe all of that is too much. But, if you plan to wheel the piss out of it all the time, then all of that makes sense. If you need it to be good at both, maybe less lift and 37/38 tires, go to the tons if you think you'll be breaking the stockers. It'll still out wheel 98% of the stuff on the trail, and be well behaved on the road.
My last Jeep was built to the hilt, and became such an Offroad monster, that it was not fun to drive on the road anymore... getting in and out was a hassle, it was too tall to easily put the top up and down... For the last 5 years or so, it barely got used 4k miles a year max. By comparison, my 20a 392 now has 10k miles on it, and I've only had it since June.
As always, I'm just some random dude on the internet... you do you, friend.
Good luck.
