Hi All,
I was curious, if anyone that has ordered and received their 2023 392, has replaced the headlight switch? The prior model years had the twin thumb wheels for dash dim and ambient lighting whereas the new ‘23’s have only one switch. So I’m curious if ordering the new part is plug and play (only costs about $55 and seems easy enough to replacE). I just reached out to parts and supposedly it fits up to ‘24 so shouldn’t be an issue but wanted to check if anyone has done this and it got back the functionality or will I be the first if/ when my June order ever gets here….

Please let me know and thank you in advance

I ordered one and have it but have not installed it yet. My dealer said it wont work but not sure I trust the kid behiind the counter simply looking at a part number associated with my VIN in the computer. Of course its a different part number, its a different part. Im waiting because I am custom painting a set of the dash panels so I only want to pull it all apart once. Soon as the panels are painted I plan to install the switch at the same time.

thank you for response, following to see outcome

I would think you could pull your single switch and see if there are two leads going to it. If there are you should just be able to separate them and connect to new part with two wheels. If there is only one lead there you will have to do some digging.

Thank you, I believe the switch with two wheels only has one wiring connection in the back (per the video),. Seems easy enough to change the switch out for our ‘23 with previous model years but changing the wiring harness is alot more involved so was hoping they cheaped out on the switch and not the connection...

Guess I’ll have to wait for mine to arrive unless someone on here has done it already.

For ‘23 they simplified the switch to answer customer complaints of what the two wheels do (especially those that had the switch and didn’t have ambient lighting). Before the ambient and footwell lighting were separate, now they adjust together. Haven’t seen the backside of the new switch to know what the wiring looks like.

I hope these people that complained live in option less houses that don’t have 3 way switches for lighting. They for sure aren’t pilots or would be lost in an airplane cockpit.

Well, I can confirm the connector is the same but the secondary wheel on the older style switch will not control the footwell lights. I plugged in the new switch, part number P6822928842AC. It works all except the secondary dimmer. The wires on the harness match the pins in the two wheel switch connector. There is an orange wire with a yellow chaser that connects at a pin that is not there on the single wheel switch. So this makes me think while the harness is the same there must be something in the computer that picks which wire to use for dimmer control. Or I guess at the light end it could be wired in different.

Thank you ColtSeevers for confirming. I’m still waiting on my jeep so couldn’t confirm on my side. Guess I’ll have to keep what’s there…

Happy New Year

Hoping as a group we can figure this out.

I hope this is an easy fix also. I think the ambient is too bright compared to dash.

haha... I hadn't paid attention and it was day time when I noticed the two knobs and it took me a while to figure out what the second one was dimming. Confirmed: not a pilot here.

I have been wanting to do the gladiator version that has a 2 part fog switch. On the gladiator it’s for the bed light. On euro models it for rear fogs. Could be very useful in a number of ways.

@ColtSeevers I found that orange wire with the yellow chaser.
I wish I could get access to the Interior Lighting Systems wiring diagrams for a '22 & '23 JL or Gladiator.

That diagram is why I think k it's in the bcm. I'm wondering if it can just be changed in the bcm since the wires seem to be there. I'd guess tazer could do it but will they...... I have the correct switch if they ever do.

There's enough intellect on this website that I think we can get it figured out.

@ColtSeevers If I understood you correctly, from one of your previous posts, didn't you say the pin positions are slightly different or missing from the '23 vs the '22? There was no orange/yellow stripe?

Whats in the harness and the connector in the jeep is the same as my 2020. Whats on the switch itself is what is different. That one wire is still there in the harness but it connects to nothing on the new style switch. I can post pictures when I get home of the two.
