2023 Changes?

Like probably at least a few others on here, I am tossing around the idea of ordering a ‘23 392 XR or possibly waiting to see what options the 20th Anniversary edition Rubicon has. I’m not looking to make a profit, but to possibly get some features that I didn’t get on my ‘21 XR, and primarily a different color.

Just so I have things straight in my mind, I am hoping that you guys (and gals) can help me to nail a few things down…

Comparing apples to apples (non-XR to non-XR, and XR to XR), my understanding is that the only two significant differences between a ‘21 and a ‘22 are the seats and the dash graphics at start up. Obviously a model year ‘22 may hold a greater value because it is a newer model, but from a practical mechanical standpoint, are these the only two physical differences between those two model years?

After touching base with my dealer, it appears that the Gorilla glass is not an option for the ‘23 model year, although otherwise it does not appear that there are any other significant differences between the ‘22 and the ‘23 model years as far as selectable options. On the public Jeep “build” site, it does still allow you to select Gobi, which my dealer says is actually not an option at this time.

Anyone know of any other differences between the ‘22’s and ‘23’s that are public knowledge at this point?

FYI my late 21 392 has the newer front seat design. Not a 21/22 change.

What your dealer sees is what you can order, regardless of public site. On the day I ordered granite was not an option for color on public site but thats what I got.

Mine was built 11/21 and has the older seat design. It must have changed right after mine was built.

I’m not sure if trail rail is still available.

You’re right, that also was not on the list of things that my dealer gave me.

So that makes two options that weren’t on the ‘23 list that my dealer gave me – Gorilla glass and Trail rail.

I wonder if the grill will change for a midcycle refresh like we saw in the 20th Anniversary Rubicon concept?

I cancelled mine last week the 2nd time. Dealer seemed shady gave me with no VON and not being transparent. I went to another dealership and order 2023 today. VON shows on my POC and built priority is 01 right away, where the other dealer was 99 with restriction. Anyway, Gorilla Glass is now available again. It wasn't available last week. Trail rail is still not there. I'm glad everything worked out today, all the options I wanted were available even though the value went up to $94,000.00+. I'm glad I got everything I wanted with no restrictions.

Trail rail and Gorilla glass aren’t too difficult to add later either (as long as inventory is there).

Probably a good idea to switch if they didn’t even give you a VON.

As of today, you can now order Gorilla Glass on a 2023. Still no Trail Rail system.

What exactly is the “new” seat design? I’m sure I have it. Is it better or worse than the “old” seat design?

Earlier 2021 392's had the same bottom seat cushion as the 2018+ Rubis - basiclly divided in two with a single seam stitched in center. This had a lot of "puckering" complaints. Late in '21 Jeep redesigned it with 2 seams, dividing the cushion into thirds instead.

Thanks Yukon! I would assume mine is the new one...I have not seen mine yet as it's been over at Rubitrux for the last two weeks. After waiting 6 long months what's a couple more weeks. Can't wait:)

My 2022 392 got converted to a 2023 and just confirmed with dealer today. Gorilla glass is still a go for mine.
Sweet, so many questions🤣 when did you order it? Did you have the XR? Did Jeep contact you first or just a notification from your dealer? Happy for you. Sorry for being so nosy. Its just I was hoping mine would be converted to a 2023 also.

I place my order February 4th. Jeep contacted me. I was given the option to keep my order as is keeping the X-RAY package however it would have to be converted to a 2023. I was also sent an email giving me bonus cash towards my order. In the mean time I have bought a 2022 High Tide and I’m loving it. I will end up selling it when my 392 comes in but I got a good deal on it so I won’t be loosing out on any money and still have a Jeep to drive until my 392 gets here 😊
