I couldn't think of a better first thread to make in our vendor forum! We have been wanting to do this for a while - gravity test some items onto different alloys and see what happens! This was a large driver in how we moved forward with our latest Next Gen skid plates for the JL.
You can watch for yourself as our team measures how far we can bend skid materials out of shape by free falling bowling balls, pavers and "The Diff BOMB" from 30 feet up with our contestant materials:
5052-H32 Aluminum Alloy
6061-T6 Aluminum Alloy
7075-T6 Aluminum Alloy
A36 Mild Steel
Not all alloys are made equal, and if you thought steel was always stronger than aluminum, you might be in for a surprise!
